Positive: the manager was lovely, and responsive Negative: the age. it's tired, every part of it. the cleaner smoked while cleaning the non-smoking rooms... might be why they smelled of smoke (?)

I love staying at the Rodeway Inn in Stevenson, Washington. I moved out of town a few years ago, but have family and friends who still live here so the Rodeway Inn is our favorite place to stay whenever we come to town for a visit. They are very accommodating of our full grown purebred Pitbull service dog and they do not charge any additional fees to book a reservation with a pet. The rooms are clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The property and surrounding areas are usually pretty quiet. Hotel staff are friendly, professional and helpful. They have units with kitchenettes available, so you're not stuck eating microwaved food for the entirety of your stay. There are at least 2 units that I am aware of that have a full stove/range/oven and a kitchen sink (instead of a sink in the bathroom) in them. The building where the office is located has newer, more updated rooms. Showers have lots of pressure and reliable continuous hot water. Rooms are roomy and smell nice. The only issue we had with our stay was a billing issue caused by booking online through Priceline, and was entirely the fault of Priceline and was no fault of the motel or staff. Issue was resolved with a couple of phone calls. I would highly recommend this motel to any visitors or tourists passing through town. You won't have to deal with any of the rampant 'big-city' problems plaguing motels these days: wading through homeless camps, trash or panhandlers just to get through the front door, random druggies wandering around all night or creepers lurking in the parking lot at all hours; there were no loud, angry or obnoxious people to deal with (at least there weren't during any of our various stays). As a former long-term resident of Stevenson (20 years), this motel had a long-time previous reputation for being host to rowdy, criminal and nefarious tenants and guests (and not doing much about it if anyone complained), but I assure you that the current owners have cleaned it up nicely and turned the motel into a super-comfortable and welcoming place to rest your head. Rodeway Inn is centrally located and within walking distance to most points of interest within Stevenson city limits.

Room was lovely. Best service in town. You are right in the mix for fun and good eats. No breakfast as the area is too small for social distancing but you can walk your lazy bum down the road on a beautiful morning with a beautiful view and grab a bite to eat.

The reviews on here were bad - the experience was worse. For context, we are backpacking the PCT, so our cleanliness standards are not that high. Still, this place failed. We have stayed in cheap hotels. This hotel was not even cheap. It was just filthy. There were a lot of bugs on the window sill. I assume they get in through the large crack in the closed door. There was a half empty jug of milk left in the fridge and fried mystery food under the fridge. The towels weren't really clean either, but that wasn't as big a deal as the hair left in the tub. There were also toenail clippings left on the bedside next to the bible. Other than the cleanliness problems, there was nothing this hotel did well. The place is poorly maintained. The carpet is dirty and poorly trimmed. The headboard is falling apart. There are no available outlets near the beds. The magazines/travel guides were from last year, despite being here in August. I can't hold this last bit against against the hotel itself, but there was also an incident involving the sheriff's department at the room next door.
