Great service and food! The resort itself is amazing, set in the forest with golf course, zip line and specialty tree fort rooms! Also lots of trails to explore...

Great customer service. Good food. I read the reviews and was kind of wondering if we should even go here, but the outdoor view and the monopoly pushed me towards it. So there are two restaurants at the lodge; the cascade dining room which is seated and a little more upscale, then the river rock room which has a bar and different menu. This review is on the Cascade dining room. Called to book a res about a week and a half out. The girl accepting was new (she told me this) she seemed confused when booking and when I had to change times due to competing events, but when we arrived to the property it was in there (and able to be changed again) so good. Mrs Jewell the hostess was super nice and professional. She greeted us, was welcoming and was super nice to our son. Her side job is basically to tell guests that walk up that it's going to be an hour wait or so (without a res, on a full house, on a Saturday night mind you), at least that's what I observed, lol. She is awesome. She seated us, was super nice to our son and remembered my sons name as we left. Pretty cool. John was our server. He had a wide coverage area this night, but checked on us and our son constantly. Made good wine pairing recommendations, knew the menu, provided a small to-go box for leftovers when asked. Overall he was a super nice guy and great at his job. All of the staff, not even working our area was super nice. To include the waves from the line cooks on the way out as they have an open view kitchen (very cool). We tried a small sampling of the steelhead chowder. Was pretty good. I regret not trying the bison chili, lol. She had the prime rib, I had a bone in porterhouse pork chop. Both cooked and seasoned well (other reviews must of caught them on a bad night I guess). The beef was rare as requested (again other reviews), standard au jus and horseradish. Paired with a fresh potato mash and a few asparagus sticks. A really good dish. The pork chop was thick and cooked well, paired with grilled micro carrots and sautéed onions. With a smear of a bourbon reduction that tied the dish together. I would have liked to see a starch on this dish. They modified some apples from the kids menu for us so we could feed our boy, super cool of the cook staff. Given inflation, price for supplies, the lack of servers/cooks in the current service industry and the monopoly that they have on the lodge guests; food prices were fair and servings were adequate. The wine was ok, local stuff. Kind of high priced. We tried both red and white. Took some back to the room. I wanted to drop a review because everyone was so nice to our young son and to us. The food was good, the views are awesome and you can take booze back to your room, lol. Try to make reservations if you know you're staying at the lodge over the weekend. Thanks to all.

Service was great, the barbecued shrimp need to be seasoned very bland but hot. The lemon mousse was very good.

Was so excited to check out the Skamania Lodge and had heard great things of the dining room... Firstly, the menu online was completely different from the menu when we got there... ALSO, there were out of SO MANY different things, limiting our choices immensely... This was a Thursday night a week before Memorial Day weekend, so it wasn't a very busy time.. Well, 3 of us got the Chicken all sitting on the same side of the table. One plate came out with a piece of chicken 1/3 the size of the other two, the polenta cake was half the size, and the portion of cauliflower was missing it's sauce as well as was half sized. As someone who was worked in restaurants for over 10 years, I know that there are MANY eyes that are supposed to check that plate before the customer receives it (kitchen expo, food runner, waiter, etc). When my friend pointed out to the waiter that his plate was unacceptable and that he wanted a new one, the waiter went on to deny responsibility, saying "I didn't plate it..." I was more taken aback by the defensiveness of the waiter than I have ever been. We weren't being rude... My friend said he wasn't going to be paying for his meal if that was the approach, to which the waiter quickly backpedaled, apologized and went to order him another plate... By the time his food came out, everyone was itching to leave because the 2 hour dining experience with slow moving poor service had left us all wanting to leave... You may ask: was the food good at least? I had the most overcooked shrimp for an appetizer ($18 for 3 shrimp) that I have ever eaten... My chicken was extremely overdone and chewy (I barely ate any of a $32 entree and didn't even want the leftovers). I should have brought my own food...

Not normally, no. There could be a special event in which case a reservation might be a good idea to speed up waiting.

Im afraid not. However, the Lounge is open for lunch and dinner tonight. The food and drinks are great and we have the same beautiful view. Reservations are not necessary.
