Over the phone I was assured there were apartments available within our budget and things we were looking for. Drove Over and hour to see them only to be told that what I was told over the phone was all completely false and everything they had available was way outside of what we needed.

With how much we pay to live here, you would think they would make it actually livable. Our dishwasher leaks because it was apparently never installed properly. They will not fix it. Repaving has been in progress in the parking lot for like a month, and they aren't even half done. It isn't even being done well. It's rough patch jobs that leave the parking lot in worse shape than before (and you know they'll be raising rents as much as possible to pay for it all). It might start at 6am, it might not be worked on at all for days at a time. There was no warning when the carpeting in the hallways was being replaced with vinyl. The hallways are now uneven and bumpy, a delight for physically impaired tenants. They are constantly "improving" things, but also making them unusable. Their way of fixing all that is by getting people drunk once a week. I doubt my family will be renewing our lease. Apparently, things were great with the old management. New management is all about appearances and money...

You hear that "clack, clack, clack" from the agents' heels when you sign your leasing documents? This is your life now. It doesn't matter if you live on the bottom floor or the top, you're going to hear your neighbors. A lot. These apartments were built in the 70s, and when they replaced the carpeting with planked vinyl they took out insulation and sound damping. So you'll be losing your heating and cooling through the floors, AND you'll know what room your neighbors are in. Don't plan on working from home in Kenilworth. Plus, there are plenty of car break-ins to keep you on your toes, too.

Just pointing out, for the record, that the majority of the five-star reviews are probably driven by the previous owner's policy of giving tenants who post a five-star review $100 off their month's rent Otherwise, they're okay apartments, if you don't mind that they're overpriced and haven't been maintained very well. The complex has switched hands three times in the past couple of years, and each time the new owners dress up a pig by doing cheap, surface maintenance, while leaving the pricy stuff undone. The maintenance team is abusive to tenants who complain. Prices were already high for what renters were getting; the latest new owners just hiked them up an additional $500 - $1000/month. Personally, I'd give this one a hard pass.
