I have previously noticed the Flight Plan restaurant driving down Carl T. Jones drive. I am more sure what I expected, but the visit was a delightful experience. The "flight" of wine was excellent. There are a number of choices to fit almost any taste. I opted for the "variety pack" which was a selection of four different wines. The wines were placed on a sheet in an order that identified the wine and something about each wine. There was a crafted delivery made of wood that fit the placemat perfectly. It was a nice touch. Moreover, the two flights of wine we tried this evening were both excellent. While I thought the wine tasting would be good, I was not sure about the food choices. As it turned out, there were plenty of good choices. This evening, we had an empanada and scallops—two small dishes that the two of us split and enjoyed with the wine tasting. The folks at the restaurant were very friendly, informative and very good at providing an excellent experience.

Flight Plan is one of Huntsville’s best kept secrets, although, I believe the word is getting out about where to get 5 star food and service while enjoying a great bottle of wine! The owners, Jim and Belinda, are a great team, and their staff are always friendly and ready to offer advice when ordering. Bella is our favorite server, but they are all wonderful! The food is exceptional, and the Chef, Jim, puts thought into every menu item listed. Belinda handles the wine selections, and she puts together a great selection for any occasion! This is one of my wife’s best go to spots for a wonderful meal and a great time. It is best to call ahead and make a reservation, as the place fills up quickly!

Flight Plan Wine and Tapas strictly follow CDC guidelines. All tables are 6 feet apart. Parties at bar are 6 feet apart. Servers and bartenders always wear masks and change gloves whenever they touch anything a guest has touched. Menus are sanitized. Restrooms are locked and are sanitized after each guest uses the restroom. Kitchen staff also wear masks and gloves. Each time a credit card is used, the credit card and pen are returned with a sanitary wipe for sanitization. If staff members report they may have come into contact with a person who is positive, they are required to test and required to quarantine even if they are negative for 10 days (per CDC). They must test again and be negative to return to work. Finally, in January 2020, the Health Department gave our restaurant a perfect 100 score, meaning the restaurant is following all cleaning and sanitization practices expected.
We serve wine, beer and wine cocktails, but do not serve spirits. Our 40 different wines as well as our bottled beer selections are also available for sale "to go". Our tapas are paired with our international wine and beer selections, available in flights, by the glass or by the bottle. Hope you can stop by and visit us soon!
We have a happy hour every Wednesday from 5-7 pm. The specials vary from week to week but generally include 25% off select wines, beers and small bites. Please come by and see us!
