Not owned or ran by equestrians and completely profit hungry. Warning!!! I feel the equestrian community should be fully aware of the business tactics the Mt. Hood Center now uses. We are a new club and planned an event last year at Mt. Hood Center. The rate was negotiated at $2500 for the entire facility for our 3 day event. Unfortunately due to Covid and the nature of our event (judges traveling from Europe). It was cancelled. The staff at Mt. Hood Center along with the owner all agreed that we would hold the event in 2022. In January of this year we secured our dates from the judges and began our planning. I notified MHC of the date in January and they assured me that it was on the schedule and everything was in order. I confirmed again in February and March. In March, Our VP booked tickets to fly down to PDX to tour the facility. We had requested the contract from MHC in Jan, Feb, Mar, and April. In May we received our new contract. The issue being, they raised their rates on us. Not double, Not triple, But they raised them to $18,000 from $2500 we had agreed upon. This blindsided us. I was told that I then had only a few days to send a deposit of half, along with $2000 security deposit (totaling $11,000)or our dates would be given to a rodeo. I immediately called the owner and tried to reason with him. He stated the best he could do was now $10,000 and that they wanted payment in full plus the deposit to secure the dates. This is absolutely absorb! I spoke to the manager at MHC and they kept giving us ultimatums and demanding payment and contract to secure the dates. Yet, the manager didn’t even know the date we needed. She kept trying to tell me the 22nd of October when it’s been October 8th the whole time. The truth is, I have spoke to many other people in the community and this seems to be a growing trend with the new owner and his management staff. The only saving grace this place has is Ms. Brandi! As she has been the only one who has tried to help. I will never attend another event or consider Mt. Hood Center in the future for events. I would also strongly urge our equestrian community to refrain from using this organization as they only care about one thing… Unfortunately all the individuals at MHC have no equine background and don’t care one bit about the Equestrian community.

This was a fun event ... We attended with friends outside on their trail course and had a blast...the horses were good and people were all friendly and helpful. Will definitely be visiting again

The employees at MHC are kind and helpful and the actual property is so beautiful. They have a stunning meadow, a world class trail course, a greenhouse, and a wedding venue. I hope to get married here in the future!
