Beautiful, picturesque lavender fields! All the lavender treats were delicious. They have bundles and things for sale, but you can also pay to pick your own

I am so enthralled and eternally grateful for the staff at this establishment. Doreen was incredibly informed about all the wares in the storefront. I elected to purchase the bubble bath, tea, sorbet, and a lovely card. I've enjoyed every item! I appreciated her patience and knowledge. Honorable mention: linen spray and lavender stone ground mustard. (Unfortunately I was on a budget!) We walked the grounds and the smells were amazing. Beautiful presentation and scenery. I can't recommend it enough. Do not miss this next time you visit San Juan Island. Additionally, Katie was kind and informative. She even went out of her way to assist us when our bike lock broke. I recommend this place immensely. Please visit when in Friday Harbor!

Love this lavender experience 💜 The fields are astonishing, no matter the season there is something to see. They have nice pick nick tables to have lunch. 🛍 They have a "gift shop" with everything lavender, foods, cleaning supplies, chocolates, essential oils. I recomend the lemon lavender sorbet, It's delicious. 👤 Service is great, everyone is really helpful 🚻 There are bathrooms on site. 🅿️ They have free parking on site 🐶 pet friendly

Quiet, low key tourist spot. It’s free to visit and walk around. You’re not obligated to buy anything. You can bring lunch and eat at one of their picnic tables by the fields. There’s a gift shop with all the local made lavender items they create, a small informational walk thru area behind the gift shop, and the option to cut your own lavender in the fields (you pay by the bundle). It’s honestly fun just to walk around the fields and take photos even if you don’t want to cut any to take home. Warning, there were a lot of bees in the fields in early August (in case you’re allergic).

Hi Grady, The answer to your question is multifactorial. Lavender essential oil (what we experience as the fragrance of lavender) is an aromatic oil. This means that one experiences the smell as it is evaporating. On a cooler day lavender plants that are in bloom won't smell as strongly as on a hot day. Additionally, lavender essential oil is produced in the plant over the course of the growing season. Early in the plants bloom there will be little fragrance due to the low oil volume. Later in the season the fragrance is much stronger as the oil has had a chance to develop with the flowers. Added to this is the wide variety of lavender plants. Some varieties are much stronger in fragrance than others. In fact, some varieties produce almost no essential oil making them more decorative than fragrant. So, all of this to say.... it depends on the weather, the blooming stage and the variety of lavender. Next time you are near lavender, try squeezing some flowers and then smelling them.
Yes, during the summer months we have a variety of lavender plants available for sale at the farm.
