I’m sorry but this cafe is not worth the money. Between me and my husband, we spent over $50 and the only thing we enjoyed was the cornbread. I normally read reviews beforehand but this time I thought just maybe it would be good since it was at the African American museum! They have to do better! My husband never throws food out but it was the first time he actually ran to the trash can!

Everyone told me in advance how exceptional the food was here. The day we went, the food was just so-so but the prices were huge. For my cousin and me the total was $90. (WTH!!??). We both had the fried chicken with 2 sides. The mac and cheese lacked flavor, the greens were ok and the chicken had a different flavor which we both enjoyed. However, that was a far cry from the 'great food' everyone had boasted about. The cornbread was not homemade and the food was not served hot, but barely warm. We each had dessert, the caramel cheesecake for me and the lemon bar for her which we enjoyed. Plenty of seating and the tables were kept clean.

I'm giving it a 2 because the family agreed that that Fried chicken was "Not bad", ... however, do not waste your hard earned $$$ here. You have to do more than boil the sweet potato and put a little butter on it to call it Yams. The greens were over cooked in way too much water and had way to much sugar in them and was mostly stems. Noodles and cheese sauce is not Macaroni & Cheese. The fried fish was so so. Very disappointing here to be served at this particular museum.

Definitely not closed! While the food is pricey it’s actually very good for a museum cafe. Two perfectly cooked, very large and meaty pieces of buttermilk fried chicken and two generous and flavorful sides, with a fountain drink is $23+ (tax inclu.). Buy another drink and you’ve got a good sized meal for two people. There are also copious amounts of yummy looking desserts, snacks, and kids-friendly portions of a variety of foods— a fish po’boy, fries, BBQ, and hot dogs. Dining area has lots of room to sit at clean tables and contemplate the enormity of what you’ve just seen. Wasn’t going to spend the money but on a rainy day with my other option being a hastily packed sandwich that I’d have to leave the museum to eat, I splurged. Glad I did. NOTE: You are required to show your vax card to enter the cafe.

Yes.
There's three food booths offering themed dishes. There is a separate line for each booth so the wait really depends on demand. I did not wait in line, but my companion, who was at the longest line, took 20 minutes to be served. We were here on a weekend at 2pm.
Too much!! Lol! I paid $94 for a family of 4. So it was around $18 a plate. The food was not that good!
I don't think so. You have to be inside of the museum to go to the cafe, and they won't let you in the museum until the time on your pass. You can call the museum to double-check.
This isn't a question, rather a statement.
