I love this library! Everyone is super nice, and my kids love the play area. Only location I ever go to!

I hate the "open office" layout of this library. It's not conducive to studying or reading, unless you're the type of person that likes being stared at from all angles and isn't distracted by having stuff happening all around you. From what I've seen, there's a very small amount of study rooms on top of it. Every library should have desks with privacy walls so people can focus and have their laptops out on top of reading materials. This is just a bunch of comfy chairs out in the open and large tables out in the open. A decent place to get a book but an absolutely atrocious place to sit down and study/read for an extended period of time.

So happy the library is open again. This library is my favorite. Had lots of books and is big enough to sit and relax if you want and the staff is amazing and very helpful

There's a lot to love about this library! They were so nice to me and made it very easy for me to get a library card. I have troubles seeing and they have a huge audio book section, e-books (you can adjust the size of the text then), and a decent sized section of large print books, although the non-fiction section is quite small. The children's section is an oval shaped area with loads of books and the teen area carries a variety of Manga. The catalogue to find books is easy to use and you can hold books as well! They also have computers and are able to print items. I had to go to the counter a couple of times to ask questions and the woman up there was super nice.

Questions & Answers

So why is the library closed early? Is this due to covid or winter? I liked bringing my child at this time because there was way less people.

Mary Abler | Feb 17, 2022

Hi Alma - the reduced hours are in response to the increase in COVID cases in the community and to give us some flexibility in staffing during the surge. We are reevaluating weekly and hope to bring back hours as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

Are the French Conversation groups running again now?

Judith Hart | Nov 19, 2021
Janet Alder | Nov 19, 2021

Not yet. We are doing some conversation circles online, but not French. We're hoping to offer in-person ones early next year, but we'll have to see if we have a volunteer available to run the French one. Stay tuned to our events calendar at fvrl.org and feel free to check back with us in early 2022. - Janet @ FVRLibraries

Do you have a printer/copier? How much does it cost to print

Anonymous Anonymity | Aug 17, 2019
Janet Alder | Aug 17, 2019

Yes, our libraries have printer/copier/scanners. Black & white is 10 cents, color is 50 cents. Each patron with a library card starts each day with a credit of 30 cents, so the first three black & white copies are free. More info can be found on our website at https://www.fvrl.org/computers-printing. - Janet Alder, Marketing Coordinator, FVRLibraries
