I ate lunch with a coworker at the downtown Dallas location today. I feel like you should know what happened. We sat at the bar and ordered food. I ordered nachos and my coworker ordered tacos with baracho beans. She ate one taco and then first spoonful of beans looked strange. We were so grossed out to see a DEAD, VERY LARGE CRICKET in the spoonful of beans. Upon figuring it out she dumped the beans on the bar. The bartender came over, we showed him the cricket and he went and got a female manager. She came over and asked if everything was okay. We told her and showed her. Her only reply was “I’ll let the kitchen know” and she walked off. We sat there for another 5 minutes in absolute horror. No one apologized or did ANYTHING!!! The bartender gave us our check. I looked him straight in the face and said “you seriously expect us to pay this?” He said my co workers meal should have been free….. UMMMMM only hers? Because I’m so digested if I eat one more bite I’m going to puke! So I paid $19 for chicken nachos I didn’t touch!!!!!!! No one apologized , no one cared at all!!! Upon leaving we found another manager that did in fact apologize after we told him no one else did, and offered to take care of us the next time we came in. Seriously????? What in the world. Not like we are ever coming back. So aside from the fact that there was a bug in the food, the customer service was horrific!!!

Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram at SNDTRAVELS and EATWELLTRAVELOFTEN If you are coming to Dallas and want tex-mex, this is a must! Ok, so I have never reviewed one of my all time favorite restaurants because I don't usually review chains. I keep forgetting that this is not a chain restaurant but still a family owned business and that they are mostly in Dallas. I have been going to El Fenix since I was born and one of the best things that I can say about them it that they still use the same recipes. It always taste the same after all these years. My favorite is the basics, cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. Wisconsin cheese and real chili-con-carne instead of redsauce. Happy food, comfort food or just a great tasting meal, call it what you want just get it. From nachos to fajitas, taco, flautas, tostadas, carne-asada, handmade guacamole ect, there is nothing that is not outstanding. Their chips and salsa are legendary. Thin and crispy the chips are unlike any other restaurant. If your traveling to Dallas, you got to put this at the top of your "get to" list. Any location will do but the downtown is the most nostalgic.

Went here for lunch on a Thursday. I orders the enchiladas with fajita chicken. The service was quick. The food came out very quickly. It looked and tasted great. Good seasoning. It was hot. The rice wasn’t sticky and the beans were good.

We had El Fenix as a family after church at the Upperroom Dallas tx. El fenix was delicious had very packed! The food came out supper hot and supper fast! Very pleased. I orders the el Jefe enchilada plate, my child had the burrito plate and my wife the bean and cheese nachos. The nachos were prepare just how we like them, plenty of beans and cheese on each chip and bite!

Susan, they do. I've already put down a deposit to rent the space. It is for events.
