The camp host Nick was really friendly and welcoming. The bathrooms were spotless! We were so surprised. Our camp site was the furthest one right by the creek and it was gorgeous. There’s a chevron store nearby (about 6-7 mins away) to pick up anything you forgot and it was surprisingly reasonably priced. We had cell service (Verizon) the whole time. There’s great drinking water here, fire pits, bear lockers and vault toilets with sanitizer. The host also sells firewood there too. You have easy access to upper palisades lake hike (which was totally worth the effort!). The host was good about keeping an eye out on the campground to make sure it stayed quiet and we felt safe here. We had a great time and would totally recommend it.

Beautiful area and I always love backpacking in. The campgrounds near the trailhead are first come first serve with firewood available for purchase. The hike to the lower Palisades and upper Palisades lakes has been pretty well kept. It's about 4 miles to the lower lakes and about 7.2 miles to the upper lake. Really lush and beautiful place to hike.

Campground is great, not too bad of service from the staff. Beautiful area and other campers have been mindful of one another when I have gone. Excellent access to the creek and trail to the lakes.

It is an awesome trail to the Upper Palisades lake. It has many rocks and roots on the way there. The trail sometimes gets pretty narrow. There is many ups and downs on the way yet the whole road goes gradually up. We brought a wagon to carry our stuff which make it almost impossible to make it but we did it within 9 hours to get up and 7 to get down. Never take wagon there! Without it expect to get to the Upper lake within 4-5 hours.

Do we need reservations?

Until this past year you could not make reservations. It was first come first served. Last year the host said it would be on the reservation system this year. I checked about a month ago but wasn't able to find it on the campground reservation website. It may be there now.
