After a long delay of almost six years, we were finally able to return to the Old Saybrook Econo Lodge and we weren't disappointed. This family-run business has been carefully renovated with carpetless hardwood no-smoking rooms, queen- and king-size beds, all-new bathroom fixtures, a spotless swimming pool and all the usual expected in-room amenities: free WiFi, large flatscreen t.v., refrigerator, microwave, air conditioner, etc. And it's pet friendly! This Econo Lodge is set back from the road next to a large pond graced by a beautiful Victorian gazebo and watched over by a swan sculpture perched on a large rock outcropping. On weekends, you can help yourself to a generous breakfast of do-it-yourself fresh waffles, fresh fruit, muffins, bagels, cereal, coffee or tea and apple or orange juice. Nearby day trips can include Foxwoods and Mohegan casinos, the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center (known as "the Kate"), the seaport town of Mystic with a great aquarium and nearby day or sunset sailing cruises, and gorgeous Hammonassett Beach. Perhaps the nicest feature are the live-in owners and long-time staff, who are always so welcoming and make you feel right at home. We'll be back!

Staff is amazing. Ask for Christina. always happy to help with anything that you need or that may come up. above and beyond!!! Pets being allowed is awesome can't stand leaving my dog at home. it's very hard to find a hotel that will allow pets and don't charge a fortune. small fee covered the whole week. Great stay will definitely stay again

Reserving room blocks for our Wedding in Old Saybrook and had the pleasure of speaking to Nayan. My call dropped several times and he was very patient, informative and professional. The reason we are going to use this hotel is because of him. Thank you so much for your help, Nayan!

My family and I stayed here while the closing of our house was taking place. The staff was exceptionally friendly. I have zero complaints about the person who checked us in. But our rooms lacked alot. The beds aren't comfortable. The bathroom had used soap on the sink and an almost empty roll of toilet paper. We were constantly kicked off the wifi. And every evening around 7pm we would get an overwhelming odor of marijuana in our room. We tried turning on the exhaust fan in the bathroom but it would get exceptionally worse to the point I ended up with a migraine. The water pressure is almost non-existent and the hot water was luke warm at best. We chose to check out a couple of days early due to all of this and of course wasn't offered anything to compensate. I just gave the kid our keys and he said okay bye. I would never recommend staying there until they do some major updates and handle the smell issues.

Wish I had thought to ask that?
Yes, it is seasonal.
Not exactly. The station is more downtown, and the hotel is near the outskirts. I'd say about 5 miles maybe. It is off the same road though, Boston Post Rd I believe it is. You can ask at the station for the local cab #.
