I almost never write reviews, but this place is so awesome I just have to! I called to ask a quick question about dog food for my new puppy and Laura, the owner, spoke with me for 35 minutes on the phone! She helped me with tons of creative ideas to provide my puppy with more healthy, alive, varied sources of food. He’s currently licking a frozen Kong filled with a mixture of veggies, kibble, and broth that I created based on foods I got at this store. Super knowledgeable staff, high quality foods that are humanely raised and overall awesomeness. I am purposely continuing to purchase items here that I could get on Amazon so I can support this store!

Just wanted to thank the lovely staff member at the Alberta store over the weekend that helped me find a harness that wasn’t even at your store. She was just knowledgeable about a company making a harness that doesn’t run against a dog’s elbows (Blue 9 products). I ordered it and it fit perfectly! I will definitely shop at your store whenever I need something. Everyone is so helpful and kind. Such a treat to walk in and be greeted with excitement.

Hi Jackie, Thank you for your question. We have very little "ferret" specific foods & treats. Most of our ferret customers seem to like and request the high protein cat/kitten foods & treats, however. Popular ones are raw foods, freeze dried, canned and dry foods such as Go! Carnivore & Farmina N&D, just to name a few. If we don't have what you're specifically needing, just ask and we can special order just about anything. Warmly, Laura Amiton, Owner
Hi Douglas, Thank you for that question! It's true that the name Healthy Pets Northwest (HPNW) made a lot of sense-it's a great name! My Alberta location was the second store under the name Healthy Pets Northwest when I opened in 2004. Contractually, I licensed the name from HPNW but didn't own the name nor did I manage social media marketing. Social media became such a big part of marketing and with my second store called The Filling Station Pet Supplies, I learned that I wanted to combine my marketing efforts under one name. Hence the name change. I am forever grateful to Julie Cantonwine for founding HPNW and being my business partner for two years while we got the Alberta location up and running. I love what HPNW is up to, with adding two more stores to neighborhoods that needed a local, natural store (Multnomah Village & Woodstock). Although Julie is no longer involved in HPNW, it's still in her family in wonderful hands with her sister and brother-in-law.
It's the same store that used to be called healthy pets Northwest. They just rebranded.
