Loved the clams,, cooked to perfection! Husband had the huge 2 inch thick burger and he says "delicious fries"!!! With a group of 16 friends. Everyone agreed that this place is definitely a place to visit. Sound view from open deck with outdoor setting, as well as view from some indoor dining. We had a room in the back with a magical view if Mt. Baker through tgr trees.

We visit Birch Bay a few times a year and go to CJ's every time. Haven't been disappointed yet. The Manila clams, spicy shrimp and fish & chips are excellent! It's nice to find they keep to their recipes. Drinks are generous and yummy too.

First visit to CJ’s Beach House and will definitely return! Ample parking! Friendly hostess. The server was exceptional and made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer and devoured them. So good! For our entrees, I had the fish and chips (Alaskan cod) while my husband had the prawns and chips. Both were delicious and unfortunately were big portions which prevented us from being able to have dessert. Everything was priced well. Clean restaurant. Great views (even though it was raining). Large outdoor seating area for when weather is warmer. Also noticed a larger room inside for gathering that was rather quaint. Clean restrooms. Definitely a must stop when in the area!

Pros: beautiful views out the windows; courteous wait staff; food was good tasting, fish wasn't fishy so it was fresh and prepared correctly. Cons: expensive for what you get; while the food was tasty, it didn't have the level of fine dining I would have expected from the prices this far away from Seattle, Bellingham, or Vancouver. I recognize that waterfront property is probably expensive, but salmon that tastes only like salmon with a bit of pesto on top is not what I would have expected from a dish that cost that much. Some of my lackluster enthusiasm for the dish may be attributed to the four years I've spent eating seafood in Louisiana and I expect more flavor and spice out of my seafood, so take this review with that in mind.
