I lived there from 2014 -2017. During that time I attracted several art showings locally and nationally. Everett is a great place to grow your artistic voice; and there is no better value for the money. New and lead-certified construction - wiring, outlets, plumbing along with wonderful community spaces. Overall, it really provides artists with great resources. There is a lot of paperwork to wade through to get into this space, but Heidi, the manager, is a genius at navigating the approval process. It is worth what ever it takes to land yourself at Artspace Everett Lofts.

This live in management is a nightmare. There has been an ongoing harassment of the tenants. There have been two lawsuits against the managers; one for discrimination, and yet here they are. Many of the landlord-tenant laws are ignored, and people get so worn out, stressed-out and tired of fighting for things that are necessities; for example the removal of the thirty foot dust bunny and it's colony next to the elevator, or basically anything at all. Changing rules constantly, is allowed; yet tenants must conform to every word of the lease. The monitoring tenants, and other actions aimed to make life miserable for anyone who does not conform is completely ignored by Coast and Art space even though people have been complaining in writing for years. This summer alone - 29 complaints other than myself that I know of out of 40 units. Seven people have moved out in the last year alone due to management here. The building is a mess, half of the tenants do not do their laundry here . There are no amenities, not even a garbage disposal. The deck is bait and switch advertising. Why not just complain to the owners you may ask?? We are not allowed to. (also illegal) The above is true, witnessed and backed up by others who will not speak up. Still considering?????

I've lived here since 2009, I'm very grateful for this space. Sad that my water view is blocked by the new buildings but I can still go up to the roof. Friendly people living here, everything is very clean and well maintained.

My personal experience here as an internationally known artist who makes my living doing my art, it has been 4 years of censorship and harrassment for my art. The managers who live in the building yell at tenants and take down art they disagree with. They have personal issues with many of the artists here.

Questions & Answers

Do you need to be a working artist to live here, as in having sold a certain number of pieces and art being your sole source of income, or can you be someone who is still working on your craft?

Housing is with an artist preference. You simply need to identify as an artist. There is an interview with residents for you to express your discipline. Non artists can be placed on an interest list but any vacancy is offered to artists first. It does not need to be your sole source of income. It is affordable housing so there are income caps to be aware of.
