Seattle Seismic was able to handle the earthquake retrofit of my old house and able to determine how to deal with my cinderblocks. I had gone to several earthquake retrofit homeowner classes, so I knew the permit process is important and I wanted to make sure that was taken care of with City of Seattle.. Ryan and his crew were excellent, I didn't have to do anything. They started and kept moving, even in heavy rain and storm (sorry) and the timing of the inspection went on without me having to get involved. Good communication throughout process. I was having a hard time finding someone that would do it for me and when the one I had thought would help, was no longer willing, Seattle Seismic was there for me. thanks.

We hired Seattle Seismic to retrofit our 1957 house's unfinished basement. Everything went very smoothly, with no surprises and clear communication. The team did a great job with the retrofit itself, and they were very easy to work with. Ryan came on site every day to check on the work, the retrofit was finished on time and on budget, the work area was kept tidy, and there were no issues at inspection time. Ryan was extremely responsive, took time to explain / answer whatever questions we had, and paid attention to the project from start to finish. Seattle Seismic completed a retrofit on our 105 year old house. We originally planned to use a different company, but switched to Seattle Seismic because the permits were taking forever and the communication was poor. We couldn't be happier we made the switch! Ryan kept us informed every step of the way and managed to get permits for our project way faster than the other company (who never got us permits, even after months of waiting). Once Seattle Seismic began the project, they finished a day ahead of schedule and left our space the way they found it. We would definitely recommend them for your retrofit!

Our business is certified for seismic retrofitting by the Washington Association of Building Officials (WABO) and is managed by a Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in the state of Washington. We are proud to have these credentials and it sets us apart! It’s not actually required, we just go above and beyond. Having a contractors license with insurance and a bond is required, which we of course do have. Thanks for your question!
Yes, we can retrofit a house with a finished basement. Depending on the house, it may be better to remove siding and access the stud wall from the exterior. This is much less invasive to the homeowner's living space. Either way, we can repair drywall and siding and paint it to match. Our goal is to make it look like it never happened!
