This is one of my favorite places to stay. Every year, roughly the same time, I'm here. We missed last year due to COVID-19. This year, they had a remodel going on. Beautiful remodel, more modern look, but didn't go overboard. They were still working on the second level, bigger restaurant/bar area going in. Other construction projects here and there. But it really wasn't noticeable. The staff was great the entire time. Mirage the bartender at the small bar in the lobby was excellent. Rooms were nice and cleaned well. I'm so happy we get an opportunity to come here yearly.

We canceled. No information when we booked that it was under construction. They did let us know two days before we arrived. Marriott is spending to much time buying every other hotel chain; and could care less about their customers. Their service is going south. We were treated great at the Moab Marriott, maybe this is just standard Vail hospitality π©

Stayed at 4 different resorts on our Colorado trip and this was the worst on value to quality. Our fire detector blinked every couple minutes all night long. The TV automatically turned down every 30 seconds. The valet took 20 minutes to retrieve the car. The hotels location was great but room 466 needs some attention. Mediocre at best.

Summer travelers beware... this hotel is doing all sorts of work that robs you of the feeling of staying at a mountain resort. The renovation work isn't mentioned on their site but you pick up on it as soon as you pull up and are directed to a side entrance instead of the main entryway. A flippant, verging on rude, receptionist checked us in - failing to note or even apologize for the state of the "resort." The side entrance you have to use shows some glossy pictures of what their lobby and entrance will look like but they don't do much to make that makeshift reception environment welcoming. (it's a hallway featuring two doors for bathrooms and a chair in between on the right and some reception space on the left used for check in. How welcoming!) Once we got up to our room, we got the news that their pool area is completely off-limits by looking out of our pool and mountain view room to see a construction site. Again - not one word of forewarning and not even a glimpse of an apology from a human being who worked there. The room itself was okay if you overlooked a few things. Slide the juliette balcony door open and a mound of bird poo greeted you at the bottom of the railing. I mean... a freaking mound of it. Step into the shower but then back out when hairs that are not yours threaten to stick to your feet. Thank goodness our poolside flip flops could still get some action as shower shoes. And the room stayed weirdly hot despite us messing around with the thermostat. A true joy was being awoken Monday morning to construction machines working on the pool. Who wants to sleep in comfortably on a break? And why wouldn't I want to hear the construction workers conversations and frequently-used swears if I get near the juliette balcony door, let alone open it? I suppose that's something Marriott assumes guests enjoy, particularly when they've paid a premium for the view. No view, but fiery conversation that's not yours! The staff may have been able to boost our spirits if they were not thoroughly checked out mentally and unfriendly. If you're seeking a vacation spot that's more of an apartment than a hotel resort and are fine with the best customer service coming from the valets, then yeah, spend your hard-earned money here. Otherwise, save yourself the frustration and pick another place that has the amenities and customer service that helps shape a truly relaxing vacation.

No they do not everyone has to pay
Couldn't find an Uber or Lyft ride when I was there for a week in July 2018. I used Epic Mountain Express which is a shared van shuttle. It was $39 each way per person. It was cheaper than a taxi as the resort is almost 35 miles from the airport. Hope this helps.
Ritz Carlton Vail is 100% NOT ski in ski out despite what others have said. RC Bachelor Gulch @ Beaver creek is ski in and out. Marriott is next door to RC in vail.
Whatβs included with the $50 resort fee?
