If you like hilly hiking trails, this is a good place to go. Just be aware that the trails are narrow, and there is a lot of poison ivy by the trails. It's a good idea to wear long pants for the hikes. There are plenty of nice picnic areas and shelters in the park. The overlooks to the river are amazing. The camp ground is not crowded and pleasant to stay. A busy railway is close by, if you are not a deep sleeper, bring a few good ear plugs.

Very pretty place. Great views of the Mississippi River. Camp ground is well kept. We were there five nights, staying at 2 campsites.

We were staying in the area and drove out to see the sights. It didnβt take long to drive between the various lookouts and there were short walks to the various platforms. Almost all of them had benches to sit on and soak in the sights. It wasnβt crowded when we went - in fact, we saw a couple groups leaving and one person sitting at a table, but we were otherwise alone in the woods - save a furry friend we found on the way outβ¦ π·πΈ The northern platforms are accessible by slopes, the southern ones had more stairs. They were all well-maintained.

Pretty park with lots of moderate to challenging hiking trails. My rating is mostly based on the camping. Most sites are open and not secluded, even in the tent only areas. Womenβs showers are lacking benches in the stalls- there is one bench outside the stall for two showers. Handicap stall has a bench in it. The bathroom was kept fairly clean. Always had TP. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a freight train track very close by that runs every 45-60 minutes and sounds the horn. All. Night. Long. The tent sites are closest to the tracks. Perhaps the RV sites farther away werenβt as bothered by it. I actually got used to it after a couple of nights. The overlooks provided beautiful scenes especially at sunset. The launch onto Buffalo lake was easily accessible but Buffalo Lake (backwaters of the Mississippi River) itself is marshy and not desirable for kayaking, which is what I was looking forward to. The town is cute and has a great ice cream shop called Shivers. Overall I wonβt likely camp there in my tent again but an RVer might find it suitable.

Theirs fishing across the road to the park The campground is close to it for walking. But there is parking across to the fishing. The state park itself is on the harder side to walk into. But it's still great Have a great time.
Yes, But they must be kept on a leash at all times while at the park. Anyone caught with a dog not On a leash is Ticketed and fined. The same goes for cleaning up after your pet, don't do it and It will cost you.
Yes of course
I assume you can camp there in the campground, but if unaccompanied by an adult, I'm not sure.
Theres a wonderful diner in Savanna right before you hit the Palisades.
I was there this past weekend and it looked like there were campers there.
Yes.
I have not seen any signs of one
