Best and probably the only Korean restaurant near this area. Dol sot (the hotpot rice) and the squid are the highlights!!!

I love this place so much that I feel an obligation to respond to some of the recent reviews. Please disregard the negative comments. The food is out of this world delicious and the family that runs this place is kind and hardworking! The daughters come down every single week/weekend to help their dad, especially after his surgery. “Ang” is clearly a new customer (and has not worked in the service industry). The waitress is NOT a family member, not all Asians are related idiot. Businesses are short staffed, but it’s obvious that the family at Wonju are trying their best to serve the community and share the Korean cuisine/culture. If you can’t appreciate that, then you seriously need to check yourself. Just last night, one of the daughters was the only one waitressing and she was a rock star! From what I’ve seen, most customers are great at showing kindness and being patient. This restaurant is a gem in the Roanoke community. Let’s not lose this place folks.

Went there today for the first time because I was missing Korean food based on my military tour to Seoul years ago. The chicken bulgogi was good but not as spicy as I wanted. The waitress was so rude she kept cutting my calls each time I called to place an order to pick up. I had to go to the restaurant to place the order myself. I wish she was nicer and not rude. Looks bad on the manager.

Went there for a quiet lunch the other week and found the food there wonderful! Tried the tteokbokki appetizer, beef bulgogi, salmon teriyaki, and the barley tea. The beef bulgogi firmly delivered upon expectations— the sauce was just sweet enough, bursting with umami, and the beef was nice and tender. The salmon teriyaki was tried with equal passion, flaky but still with a nice bite, and the flavor was well-rounded as well. Having this place being the first place we had ever tried tteokbokki before, we weren't sure what to expect, except spiciness. It was good, bringing a nice level of heat; the only thing perhaps it could use is a hint more of acidity (but again, unsure if it should have any in traditional recipes). However, it was still rather good. The barley tea... one sip and the mellow flavor flowed over the tongue, conjuring images of a crisp Autumn evening by a small fire, curled up reading a book. Definitely worth trying, though perhaps best suited for cooler temperatures than the heat of summer (our mistake!) Staff was friendly and polite, the smells amazing coming from the kitchens, and it was a quaint place. So thrilled to have found this place and tried them— looking forward to returning there again!

We make sure that the customers are seated with 6 feet distance from each other. We make sure to clean all of our tables using cleaning products recommended by the Virginia Department of Health for restaurants. We have hand sanitizers available throughout the restaurant. We ask that customers come into the restaurants with their masks on and take them off only when they have been served their food and put them back on when walking to the restroom or around the restaurant. Our staff wears masks at all times.
They do have tables that allow you to cook Samgyeopsal and provide side dishes and lettuce to wrap it all in. Its quite alot so make sure you bring someone to eat it with! And typically runs about $40
Much better bang for your buck if you dine in. The takeout doesn't give you as many sides
