Yes, you need registration, title or lender contact info to get a payoff and personal ID for owner. If more that one owner, both must be present with their ID. I seriously doubt you friend or relative will have any luck selling to CarMax,they do everything by the book. The upside, they pay more that any dealer if you try to use the vehicle as a trade. Dealer - best offer 9,000.00 but CarMax paid us 10,300.00.
