Agent lied to me about return time and ending up costing me an extra day rental but I didn’t get use of the car. Seemed like they lied to get me to pay and return early so they could rent again. Very few times I feel cheated by a brand name company but this was definitely one of them. Avis corp ultimately corrected the above and the manager is a nice guy so I adjusted 1 star to 3 stars. Still was a hassle at the end of a long trip.

I dealt with polite, well informed, helpful AVIS personnel the two times I rented a car and when I confirmed my 2nd. reservation online. The car was clean, had a free GPS which was helpful, and everything worked well. I reserved a car at another cheaper agency first, who never contacted me they had no cars available when I showed up to pick up the reserved car!

I feel like I'm just repeating what the last reviewer (Jen Harris) posted, but it's exactly what happened to me, too. I reserved my vehicle several days in advance, and I received multiple email confirmations and reminders about my pickup date and time, so I presumed everything was all set. However, I had to wait over 45 minutes beyond my scheduled pickup time before an employee finally showed up. During that time, I tried calling the local number, but as expected, I just stood there at the desk listening to their phone ring right in front of me with nobody there to answer it. I then called the Avis main number, and almost comically, the agent tried calling the local number. Again, I stood there at the desk listening to their phone ring. I assured the agent no one was going to answer, unless she wanted me to. Beyond that, the agent claimed she couldn't help me. Next, I walked down to the Enterprise rental desk to ask if they happened to have any idea where the Avis staff was, but of course, they didn't. Just to remind you, Avis is in the travel business, and in travel, schedules matter a LOT. Sometimes, travel schedules hinge on just a few minutes. A few minutes can cause you to miss a flight. In my case, these 45 minutes caused me to miss an important business engagement. I will never put my trust in Avis again, and I highly recommend you don't either. Use Enterprise instead. They had multiple employees there, working hard to service their customers.
