My mom and I went on the evening cruise and had a delightful time! Our captain and naturalist (Jeff and Lee) were wonderful guides. They shared their knowledge of the area and the wildlife throughout the journey and the views were incredible. They were kind enough to share the photos they took during the trip as well which was much appreciated because a cell phone camera cannot capture how majestic this was. If you’re looking for a whale watching excursion on a smaller boat setting this is perfect.

Jeff and April were fantastic. We saw many (so many!) orcas. Jeff and April were a wealth of marine life and whale information. They were great fun with witty humor back and forth throughout the tour. I highly recommend doing the 4-hour tour if you want to see whales. We would definitely do this again! These are actual pictures from our tour.

This tour was the highlight of our trip! We had Sara and Ellie as our guides and they were both outstanding. You could tell they were very passionate about protecting the whales and their habitats. They provided binoculars to watch them from afar and would turn off their boat engine to make sure they weren’t disturbing the whales. We also were able to see a bunch of other wildlife too, like sea lions, bald eagles, and a peregrine falcon chick in its nest! If you book this tour, you will have a great time and learn a lot!

We had a great time on our whale-watching jaunt. The boat held about 15 people, a good size that made it possible to view from any angle: inside or outside, left and right (to see out front, one could go to the bow). Guide April and Capt. Jeff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, filling us in on facts about the whales (orcas), seals, and eagles we saw, whom they apparently know well (by name, or number). They kept a sharp eye out for things we might not have noticed, and spent a a lot of time following (not chasing!) orcas as they moved around the area. (We got a bunch of their photos emailed to us a few days later too.) It was a great day out on the water, aided by good weather and luck (of course, what you see or don't will vary). The ride to and from Friday Harbor was fast, so hold on and bring layers (and a snack or meal).

I went with Maya's the other day. We were the only Friday Harbor boat to see j-pod. The staff and the boats are amazing!
