$15 buffet had very few items, most of the selections were dry and hard to eat. Then on top of that, it was so hot you couldn't enjoy being there. Very disappointing.

We were staying in Oakland Maryland and found this place online.  Actually, thought this place was near the Deep Creek Inn.  Discovered there is place called Casselman’s Bakery and café which is located across the street from the inn but the place I had seen online was about 30 minutes away.  The two places are connected with one another, the Casselman’s restaurant is located in Grantsville, MD.  The restaurant is actually a part of the Casselman’s Inn which is a pretty historic inn.  I saw that they had a Friday night buffet for $14.29 and so we thought we would check it out.  It wasn’t very crowded that night, no waiting to get a seat.  I did glance at the buffet but wished I would have looked at it a little closer. It had ham with brown sugar coating, baked thighs, some fish, and a hamburger entrée which must have been their version of Salisbury steak.  No fried chicken on it.  I tried the scalloped potatoes, the Salisbury steak, the chicken, fried zucchini and a few other things.  The best I can say is it was edible.  Didn’t have anything that was special in fact the scalloped potatoes tasted like they were from a box.  So did some of the other food items.  The thighs were okay but the Salisbury steak or whatever it was supposed to could use some work.  The dessert choices were not very good either.  If you choose to go here I would recommend getting something from the menu and not bothering with the buffet even though it was a good price.  Would I go again?  Nope.  How far would I travel to go there to eat? I wouldn’t.  I would recommend passing on this place as an eatery although the inn looked interesting.

Only here for 1 night. Staff extremely friendly. Rooms are great for the price. And I have tears of joy in my eyes from the crab soup. The food in restaurant is awesome

We can't say enough great things about this place. The food, desserts and atmosphere is above average. The history of this building and how they have tried to keep it to its period is well done and rates very high and above average.. You do feel like you have went back in time. A very clean building and the waitresses are extremely attentive. You will not be disappointed with the food, building and the rooms. Will diffinitly be back soon again and recommend this place highly! A great evening!
