Librarians arent like i remember ..They are very young and not as friendly and helpful as the older ones..I miss the 80s and 90s when the library was run better..

The Longview library staff are the nicest group of people! The library is spacious with comfortable rooms for every age group. From computers, to DVD'S there is much more than rows of books. Art displays downstairs, outdoor readings, plays, etc My love of old architecture is satisfied in this building .

Truth be told I am a fan of most libraries, but our town’s library is pretty unique in its architecture and this adds special charm. I also like their teen section in that it is separate little nook room with a cool vibe and this shows their understanding of the adolescent otherness. :) Yes, I have some of those aliens dwelling in our home.

I have a homeschool family and have lived in town for 2 years now. We frequented the library before covid. When we heard the library opened back up we were itching to go. We visited yesterday, my kids went to the lower children's level with my husband and I went upstairs. My kids were so excited (now ages 6, 2 and 1); we reminded them its a quiet place but little kids only understand so much. I grabbed my books quickly and went downstairs to checkout and grab the kids. The librarian and assistant there were SO RUDE! I don't think she realized I was with my husband and the kids because as they walked out she rolled her eyes. So unprofessional. My kids have had a hard time adjusting to being cooped up inside due to covid and they were just so excited. Its hard to get a 2 year old to use an "inside voice". The young assistant told my husband as if he didn't know "um, this is a library!". Mind you, while I was upstairs in the quiet I couldn't even hear my kids downstairs and there was no one else down in the children's section besides them and my husband. The rudeness was not necessary and we were there for a total of 15 minutes. I definitely think library staff need a reminder on basic kindness and customer service etiquette.

Yes. The AARP Tax Aide volunteers are at the library on Fridays (12:30 to 4:30 pm) and Saturdays (10 am to 4:30 pm). Help is first come, first served. Visit the AARP website for more info: https://www.aarp.org/money/taxes/aarp_taxaide/
No, we do not have passes for this event. We have had passes for local (Longview) performances in the past through our Culture Card program, but that is currently on hold.
Yes, we have the 1040 Forms and instructions that you can pick up anytime during our Drive-Thru hours. We can also print other forms if you call us in advance. For more information about Drive-Thru visit our website: http://www.longviewlibrary.org/techtipholds.php
You can check out about 20 different materials at any given time. That can be books, videos, etc. On the age thing, that you will have to ask them, as it might depend on the material and your actual age.
Great question! No, it is not. The Longview Public Library was a gift to the city from R.A. Long.
No, there are no restrictions if you live out-of-state. Non-resident fees are $100 for a one year household card ($52.50 for 6 months, $27.50 for 3 months). If anyone in the household is over 62 years, you qualify for the senior rate ($50/yr). See our website for details: http://www.longviewlibrary.org/librarycards.php
Its open 12pm-4pm now on sat and fridays
From library website: The Longview Public Library is a city library supported entirely by city funds. People living outside the city must pay a non-resident fee for check-out privileges. The fee for a non-resident card is a way to ask those users who live outside the city to share in the costs of library service. (Rural Library Mini-District residents are treated as Longview residents during the period the district contracts with the Longview Public Library for services.) A library card is required to check out all library materials and to obtain materials from other libraries on an inter-library loan basis. Residents wishing to acquire a library card are asked to fill out a short application and provide photo ID and proof of current address. Acceptable address identification includes but is not limited to a current driver's license, personal checks, official mail postmarked within the last month, a utility bill or rent receipt, or a hunting license.
It depends on the library and their rules. We have reciprocal agreements with Fort Vancouver Regional Library, Timberland Regional Library, and Kelso Public Library that allow Longview Library card holders to get free library cards from these libraries. However, they may have rules about electronic resources. For example, FVRL's website states that reciprocal cards can access everything except Hoopla (which we have anyway).
From the library website: September 6-8, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m The homepage of the website has the schedule of the current calendar year for book sales.
