I got these two handsome brothers (formerly Keefe and Fitz, now Leo and Salem) a year ago this week. Last July, I was needing some kitty love in my life after my sweet old lady passed away months prior. I liked this shelter and am a BIG fan of their matchmaking process as well as their mission. We walked in and told them we were looking for two bonded cats who are affectionate. The staff made a couple recommendations but showed these little guys first because they though they'd be the best fit. It's hard to tell what a cat's personality is going to be like through minutes of interaction, so we ultimately trusted the staff since they know the cats best and moved forward with the adoption. Well, it's been a year of grief made better by their overwhelming love. Salem and Leo absolutely refused to be caged in the office their first night, claimed the apartment as their own, and climbed straight into bed with us that evening (an incredibly rare thing for cats moving in). We've been in love with them ever since ❤️ I cannot say enough how much better it's been to have two cats instead of one. They play, groom, snuggle, and get into mischief together. There is never a boring day with these two, and they've enriched our lives greatly. I HIGHLY recommend this shelter and getting two furry pals if able to do so 💕 *Edit- my boys were also neutered and treated for ringworm in the two months of being at the shelter. They take such good care of their residents!

Volunteer staff is knowledgeable and incredibly dedicated. This is a wonderful and amazing nonprofit. They set certain rules that may upset people (like limitations on meeting/petting cats), but it is truly for the cats’ best interest.

We adopted a sweet boy cat last week from SAFR. Their process is quick and simple. View available cats, log on at 11:30am to join waitlist and you’ll receive a call back in the afternoon if there are available cats. The rescue also has a shop where you can purchase any supplies and pickup at the same time as you get your kitty. We love our guy and are so happy we adopted him.

No. It's a feline rescue, so cats & kittens only.
Hi Lynne, Thank you so much for thinking of the kitties! We currently have a Stay SAFe Pet Pantry directly in front of the rescue to help with community need right now. You are welcome to bring any donations to these shelves to help kitties directly in your community! The shelves are outside 24/7 and you can stop by anytime!
Check out their web page - it has all the answers you need :) https://www.seattleareafelinerescue.org/adopt/adoptable-pets/
Hi Dianna, Thank you for your inquiry. All of our intake decisions are made on a case by case basis, but we will take friendly fiv+ cats when we have space. If the cat is truly feral, it is unlikely to be an adoption candidate. All intake requests should go through the cat surrender form on our website: https://www.seattleareafelinerescue.org/resources/surrendering-your-cat/, which will be received and reviewed by our intake staff.
I don't work there but I am sure that the donation of towels and blankets would help with the comfort and care of the fuzzy friends waiting for a forever home.
