Disappointing and not the NYC toy store experience you would expect. The staff is set up with small microphones to demo toys with fast talking and flashy sales pitches. My daughter was fascinated by the Marvin’s magic drawing board. She bought it with her birthday money. It was complete junk, unusable. See photo for how poorly it works.
I expected high quality toys, I guess FAO has changed their business model.
This was the last stop on of weekend getaway and by far the WORST activity of the trip.

The inner child in me goes crazy at this place. They are filled and overflowing with toys. You can find Barbies, trucks, cars, action figures, stuffed animals, wooden toys, baby dolls, huge stuff toys, magic tricks, car games, regular games, Funko pops, candies, you name it!!!! Employees are great too. They are super friendly and so good at getting attention and demonstrating whatever they are selling. I didn't know where to look and I am sure all the kids were as enchanted as I was. This place is another world during Christmas. They also demonstrate how the toys are filled with cotton. You can also personalize some plushies by getting names embroidered on them. You can buy special Barbies and get to select 3 custom dresses and accessories. I am a fan of their magic tricks. Card tricks, coin tricks, everything!! I wanted to learn how to do those but decided against it as watching it is the most mesmerizing part. Learning the trade secret will only pull the curtains to show behind the scenes of the wizard of oz. Fun times!

Nice store, a little loaded the sellers are seen excessively overacted.
I was at the store 2 weeks ago and I saw the wood rocking horses somewhere!

Good evening
I am in scotland UK and im trying to source the Jetix monster truck for an autistic boy. Do you stock this truck or can you point me in the right direction to a store that does.Thank You
They have their own section on the third floor dedicated to the iconic toy. They have Barbie and friends from all periods, and even have specialty dolls like Frida Khalo and Sally Ride. The holiday Barbie can also be picked up here.
There is even a counter where you can pick a Barbie that resembles you and you can design your own custom doll. It was packed on the weekend, but a BIG hit with the kids, and very fun to see them having fun customizing their own doll. Everything you need for the Barbie lover can be found upstairs on the 3rd floor.
Come with plenty of cash! You'll want to stock up on Barbie, her accessories, and all kinds of merch!
When I was at FAO Schartz, I got a paper bag with a handle for the stuff I bought. i used it for my dry cleaning! I don't think I ever saw a plastic bag there. Even in the original it was always paper
I bought a toy while in NYC yesterday. Arrived home today and it broke the first time my son used it. I live in Utah, can't get back to the store. Can I mail it back for an exchange? Thanks.

Hi I was just in the store in NYC and I think I lost my daughters shoe. How do I find out if it’s there? The 1800 number is not available to take calls.

The CS phone center closed at 1pm. I would try to call again on again on Monday. I imagine they'll just tell you to come in and check the lost and found.
Probably service dogs but I doubt they would allow other dogs. Why would you want to bring a dog to FAO Schwarz? Also: it is very crowded this time of year.
