The place is unorganized and dirty. The homeless looking guy at the desk yelled for me to put on a mask today. Granted it june 15 2022. I said the mask mandate is back on? He yelled yes!!. I put one on to comply. Looked it up online Manhattan doesn't require it but I guess brooklyn does. They started making people put them on in the middle of May again. I just laughed because the place is empty and they drive people away. So I can go to the gym, a restaurant, and movies with no mask but library yes. Hilarious.

Inconsistent hours & closures without notice. on top of this, the Dropbox is always locked behind the gate when the library is closed. What is the point of it being there if I can only drop books in it when the library is open? Additionally, for some reason, this is the only library branch where you can’t place hold requests on days when the library is closed. For instance, if you’re making a hold request in the app on Sunday, when the library is closed, you won’t be able to complete the request. Other branches will allow this and the hold will just be processed when the branch is open. It’s odd that this branch doesn’t work the same way, especially considering that the book wouldn’t get there same day regardless

I don't believe the library has an GED programs per se but sometimes you'll find flyers from organizations that do offer GED programs.
The orginal location on the corner of 51st St & 4th Ave is temporary closed due to construction and has moved to an new location on I believe is 45th and 4th Ave.
If you never had a Brooklyn public library card the it would be free, else wise a replacement is 1 USD added to you're balance due to the library.
