I just received my mom's ashes. AGR has been absolutely phenomenal throughout this experience. My mother had many chronic ailments and wanted to make sure her remains were able to help the medical profession. She originally wanted her body to go to Duke University, but she was overweight and Duke was unable to take her. AGR was recommend to us by the hospice house and one phone call took a huge weight off my shoulders. AGR offers to send a letter to the family one year after death to let us know how our loved one was able to help others. I look forward to it and thank you all again for what you do.

I have deep appreciation to Anatomy Gifts Registry for its assistance with fulfilling my Dad's wish upon his death. Sarah was quick to respond, caring and went above and beyond to be of assistance. To say thank you is not enough. I’m grateful my Dad’s intention to gift his body came true, and I’m equally grateful that he’s in this organization’s care.

I've been ordering tissue from Anatomy Gifts Registry for the last 5 years and my company (a leading medical device manufacture) has been doing so for years before me. I manage our R&D Evaluation lab and I order all the tissue used in it. All aspects of the service from AGR has been exemplary; they're very easy to work with and their lines of communication are always open. The quality of the tissue is always excellent and always ships on time. AGR has made my life less stressful... Kudos to AGR!

We are operational and accepting donors at this time nationwide, we have a pre-screening we go through with every potential donor/ donor family this includes a COVID-19 pre-screening, we are at this time flexible for acceptance on donors with a distant/ past history of COVID-19. It is always advised to call for our current policies/ procedures surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and pre-screening.

What happens if a person dies away from her home, may be in some other state. How the arrangement is made to pick up the dead body?

Thank you for reaching out. Once AGR is notified of the death and authorization to donate as been obtained, AGR utilizes a national network of contracted funeral homes and mortuary transport services to remove the remains and transfer to our facility. This is at no cost to the donor's family.

Anatomy Gifts Registry | Nov 7, 2019

Hello Cynthia, thank you for reaching out. If a donor is accepted by our program, we cover all costs associated with the donation, including transfer of the remains from the place of death to our facility, filing of the death certificate, performing final disposition, and providing a suitable temporary urn to house cremated remains (if requested to be returned to designee(s). There is a small shipping and handling fee for shipping back ashes if one is not able to come to our facility to facilitate the transfer in person.

While we greatly appreciate your desire to donate, we cannot accept any contagious disease history due to inability to place to research endeavors. We also do not know of any programs that do accept this condition, unfortunately. Thank you again for your support.

can you be turned down?

Danny Scarborough | Nov 7, 2019
Anatomy Gifts Registry | Nov 7, 2019

Hello, Danny, thank you for your inquiry. An individual may not be accepted if they have a contagious disease history, or an extreme body weight or surgical history that would severely limit applications to which the donation could be placed. They may also be declined if they live in a state where donation to private organizations is precluded our outside of the contiguous U.S., or where we do not have local agents to assist with the donation process. We welcome individuals to contact us to determine if they would be suitable donors for our program. Warm regards, Anatomy Gifts Registry

AGR covers the majority of the U.S., but there are certain areas they are not able to service. You can call them for clarification.
