Yes it is
Hello APWU partners with Cigna or UHC depending on the plan and we accept both. Please call our office to provide your details so we can verify benefits for you.
In most cases, no. The District of Columbia is direct access, which means you can see a physical therapist without a doctor’s referral. Most health insurance companies will reimburse you for it as well. The only exception is if you’re on Medicare.
We accept most major health insurance companies. If you’re not sure, contact us and we’ll verify your coverage for you.
The answer to this question depends on your issues and your goals. In general, however, you’ll see your physical therapist more at first, and less as time goes on.
In general, no. There may be some exercises that push you a little beyond your comfort zone, but you should never feel anything more than a minor strain, the same way you would after a session at the gym. If your physical therapy treatment is painful, that’s a sign there’s something wrong. Stop the exercise and let your therapist know.
It will vary depending on your insurance. Please call for current cash rates if you do not have insurance.
Initial evaluations are scheduled for 60 min, and the follow up sessions are 30 min each.
Your first visit will consist of an evaluation which includes establishing your goals and a treatment session. A typical evaluation lasts about 60 min. Loose fitting clothes are preferred to make examination and treatment easier. You are welcome to bring a change of clothes.
For your first visit you will need your insurance card, photo ID, and any paperwork that your physician has given you to take to physical therapy. You can go to the forms tab on our page and fill out forms before your visit or come 15 min prior to your appointment time to finish paper work.
