The water is actually clear. A little beach to play on. Really nice views and trails. Very photogenic place.

Excellent kayak launch spot, for free! The sunken ships make paddling here both informative and an adventure. Do not recommend inflatables due to the many hidden underwater obstructions. Paddle along the bay itself for the sunken ships, or north to fish, or go south for a while to hit the fossil beaches. Great location for getting out on the Potomac. Very friendly staff, who are happy to let you know the history and will give you a sightseeing map if you ask. A few trails to walk nearby too.

As long as you don't have a motor, you can kayak for free
Nothing close. Do not use anything inflatable. Great risk of it getting punctured.
