If you stand out and protest in front of their embassy, they will kidnap you and beat you up. They're doing it already on the UK and been doing it forever.

There should (and probably will be) a BAN on ANY Chinese Government Agency , Embassy (CCP) Diplomat, affiliated business, or representative near Washington DC, Florida, or any location that has a military, U.S. Government, agricultural or industrial presence in the United States. Period . Shut the Embassy down NOW. Otherwise Americans may BURN IT DOWN soon. BEIJING SHOULD and likely WILL be bombed back into the STONE AGE if it continues to threaten AMERICA. Plain and simple .🇺🇲

Hello I live in Ohio. I plan to go China in July for participating in a conference? Can I apply China VISA through the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China at Washington DC? If not, please suggest me the consulate office I need to go.

Also, if you're in Chicago, the Chinese consulate in New York would be in charge of your case (china-embassy.org/eng/zmzlljs/t84229.htm). You can complete your application requirements & show up in person, or hire one of the many agent services to do this for you.

If you're a US citizen, you'll be eligible for 144 hours of visa-free transit stopover, and 24 hours with some other countries' citizenships, such as India.

Does my travel dates need to match my invitation letter? I do not want to book flight unless my visa is issued...

Valerie Housser | Nov 7, 2019
Sonny Ng | Nov 7, 2019

No, your travel date does need to match the invite letter exactly, as long as you comply with the exact entry and exit date on the visa; however, do state in writing on the visa application form your itenary exactly as described in the invite letter as a precaution against any bureaucratic pickpickings (sometime for no reason but often targeting suspcious Yankee imperialists lol) so as to facilitate your travel smoothly. Whether you'll stick to your stated destinations once you're in the country nobody really cares unless you go sensitive areas like military installations or Tibet. Bon voyage!

I have never experienced a rude behavior like I did today. I literally called for a simple visa question. This lady hung up on me not once three times and said not call back. I requested a manger she hung up again.

Mainland Chinese, in contrast to Chinese diaspora from other developed countries, still retain the mindset and behaviors of some in the third world. In addition, there's a passive-agressive approach to socialization in China which requires the uninitiated to understand the cultural nuances in facilitating effective communication. While approachability and assertiveness are positive attributes in the West, such proactive behaviors might be misconstrued as being rude, arrogance even (white previlege). Perhaps try a softer, less demanding approach to such inquiries, learn Asian cultural nuances while in Asia. Finally, mainlanders innately display lassez-faire tendencies as a result of a general lack of accountability/responsibility and incentives to improve customer service. The Chinese government has even instituted various educational resources designed to teach its citizens on proper ettiquettes when living and traveling abroad to limited success.

Dad will be traveling to China in 4weeks. Dad is born in China but do not have a China Passport. He immigrated to the U.S. How can he obtain a China Visa?

Melanie Law | Nov 7, 2019
Sonny Ng | Nov 7, 2019

If your father hold US green card or citizenship, then he can apply for a Chinese visa at the Chinese embassy or one of the Chinese consulates located throughout the US regardless of where he was born; however, I highly recommend he tries to apply for the visa through one of the designated China tour offices to some time, legal hurdles and hassle of going to and fro the China embassy or consulate. This save time for your father__and possibility of visa denial because your father forget to include something important like infos ,wrong docs, annoying Chinese embassy staff with frequent visits and requests. Save the headache by google reputable Chinese tour offices designated by the embassy website, $50-60 service fee (varies shop around) and save the headache trust me! Your father will have to submit his US green card/passport any document requested along with completed visa application, photos, processing+service fees to tour office.Take 4-6 weeks processing time so not enough time!

The Chinese visa office is on Wisconsin Ave NW. Above it there is a private company that can help you obtain a visa for a reasonable fee, including mailing it to your address It is oasis visa something Check it out on the internet Call them before you go There is no consulate in NC. I did not realize you were in NC. Anyway, please call this number in Atlanta; they do visa for China. I just called them. Good luck!

Does the embassy write letters of non availability for birth certificates that don't exist before 1996?

Mark Chan | Nov 7, 2019
Sonny Ng | Nov 7, 2019

No. Unless there are substantial evidence verifying event stated, authenthicaction must originate in the US at the local or state level all the way to the US State department even if you are a dual citizen. I highly recommend getting the service of a designated private Chinese consular agent with jurisprudence in your state to facilitate this inquiry. Good luck.

HK is a special administrative region of China with its own unique customs immigration process different than mainland China; however, 24 hrs is not enough time for visa for neither one of them. You will need to stay in the transit area of HK Airport for duration of flight over.

If you already have a Visa to china,do you need permission any time you travel

Gibril Yansaneh | Nov 7, 2019
Sonny Ng | Nov 7, 2019

No, you don't need additional permission. Be mindful that you can only enter China on the exact day of allowed Visa entry or after that day but not before.

How far in advance can you renew China passports? Ours expire in 3/2020, but we saw the news China embassy will be down in South Carolina in Feb this year to work on passport requests; will they renew 13 months ahead? This will be very helpful if so

Lucas Jace | Nov 7, 2019
Jinghua Li | Nov 7, 2019

Your Chinese passport can be renewed 12 months before it expires. If you won't be traveling internationally, you could wait till September when the embassy will be down in Charlotte NC. But online appointment is required.

I am US citizen, do I need to get visa from China embassy in the USA to go to China?

Kimkel Kang | Nov 7, 2018
Sonny Ng | Nov 7, 2018

Yes. You can get a Chinese visa via the Chinese embassy directly if you reside in the DC metro area OR one of the regional Chinese consulates throughout the US near where you live (Google info); however, this process can be rather cumbersome and time consuming. I (and most foreign embassies including Chinese) recommend going through one of the Chinese embassy designated travel agencies to process this visa application especially for first time applicant. You can apply through designated tour agency online filling out application, send in your US passport (perfectly safe) and photos using secure PRIORITY Express US postal mail with tracking, along with visa and tour processing fees. Most travel Chinese designated travel or tour agency charge around $20_50 vary according to regions so you have to shop around online Google. Trust me. Let the tour agent do it for you as they're connected with Chinese embassy or consulate cuts through red tapes. Then just wait couple weeks.

I will be traveling to Beijing and need to travel with daily medications. I have heard there may be issues with medications brought in. Are there any restrictions on prescription meds and if yes how can I find out what is on the list?

Tracy Kalescky | Nov 7, 2018
Sonny Ng | Nov 7, 2018

Unless you have needles on you or have lots of luggages exceeding the alotted amount undeclared on customs form, then you won't have any problem. Be sure the meds have your name on them. Doctor note would help as a backup just in the rare case you are pulled over randomly per quota. Chinese customs scrutinize visitors from high risks countries (Myanmar, Philippines, Africa) where there are a prevalence of drug smuggling or lone traders hauling several large boxes or packages of stuffs for import (a dead give away). Major Chinese airports are very modern and efficient even more so than some American ones. You'll be fine.
