Great starter hike for younger kids, even at 3 years old. There are a lot of roots and rocks as obstacles, some narrow sections at incline, but it's a short enough trail that even unseasoned kiddos will enjoy it in the end. The view at the end is very rewarding...lots to explore with the mini falls and rocks, bridge, etc. You might want to bring drinks and a small snack for kiddos at the end point to break, but not entirely necessary. I believe it was about 25 min or so with younger kids from start to end, so allocate about an hour to hour and a half round trip. The "park pass" kiosk is self-service and located about 1/4 mile from parking. We went early about 10a on Saturday and only half a dozen or so people were on trail at same time. Heavily shaded with trees so probably don't need the sunscreen, but might want bug spray.

Quick hike to Tumbling Water Overlook near Carter's Lake in Ellijay. The moderate hike is only about a mile round trip. Plenty of parking at the Carter's Lake boat ramp.

Beautiful out and back trail with the pay-off being multiple water falls. Dogs loved it and were able to get a drink of water in the calm areas.

Great trail, well maintained and easy for kids. Love that the Day Use Khios ONLY takes CC - big issue with most of the State and National Parks is theft of the cash Day Use Funds. Hike is easier then you anticipate and lots of families. Didn’t see any Yellow Jackets all though All Trails reported some reason experience with stings from other visitors.

Questions & Answers

Does it have camping? And are there space for a motor home?

Not sure. The one lot we parked in had boat trailer space on a pretty steep incline and some picnic tables but said no camping. This was $5/day parking so that sounds like a particular location to avoid.

Is it possible to hike with a fairly rugged stroller?

No, I was just there yesterday and the paths are very narrow and rough with roots, and much of the trail is on the edge of steep hills.

Are there any particular OPEN or Closed Times to any basic trails or just the state “park” areas?

Yes I think its state park rules Dusk til Dawn , but we were there late and no one kicked us out
