I love this shop! They have the best selection of native turquoise jewelry at a really good price. The women who own it are so knowledgeable and kind and really make you feel like a special customer. Perfect location in old town, easily accessible and so worth the visit!! I would absolutely recommend this place to everyone. Local, small business, female and native owned ❤️❤️❤️

Questions & Answers

What is the name of the blue stones that are so famous in New Mexico? I bought a ring with a stone many years ago! ?

You are almost certainly speaking of turquoise. There are several dozen distinctly identifiable varieties in the United States, especially in New Mexico and Arizona. There are a number of other international source regions, in particular, any locale where copper is found. By the most simple measurement, turquoise is marked by the degree to which it has inclusions of "matrix" flakes, veins, or fibers of copper (yellow to orange/red or brown in color) providing a prized "character" to the otherwise smooth turquoise. Some turquoise has too much matrix, overwhelming the basic blue. At the other extreme, traditional Persian turquoise -- especially prized in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East -- may be matrix free and appears as a "flawless" robin's egg blue. Most New Mexicans and other US Westerners prefer some "character" in their turquoise. Another spectrum of distinction is the variation from a green hue to sky blue. Blues are generally preferred. "Sleeping Beauty" has a prized balance.

Need the clasp fixed on a bracelet and need to know if you can fix earrings from a hoop to a stud? How much?
