** Rating of 1 star given as it will not allow 0** Absolute worst experience this past week with Budget in Daytona Beach Florida. We will never rent with them again, nor recommend to anyone. The car we were given was driven 12 minutes to a hotel in Daytona Beach. Upon waking up and heading out to begin our vacation the next morning, we discovered it had a dead battery. This began over 12 hours of phone calls and waiting for the worst service we have ever received. Budget was well aware that our family of 4 was stranded, and did absolutely nothing to help. We waited 3 hours for a tow truck driver to come and jump the car, where it was discovered the battery could not be jumped. Due to Budget policies, the tow truck driver got in his car and drove away stating that Budget had to contact them with a new ticket to actually tow the car away. After another 4 hours of constant phone calls and waiting for a new tow truck to arrive, we left the car, got in a cab, and went back to the airport. Being in front of the Budget agents still did not help as we waited another 3 hours in person until we finally got the right person over the phone to approve giving us a new car. Through it all, Budget remained completely unapologetic. In the end it cost us a full day of our vacation, plus a cab ride to the airport above the cost of our rental car. Never. Again.

A rental car was a last minute acquisition for my new son in law and daughter's honeymoon. When I arranged the rental via my Expedia account, the cost of the rental was within budget, approx: $612.97 for the week in New Symhna. When the couple arrived, they completed the process then they were informed they had to have "mandatory car insurance", even though they had car insurance which covers rentals. This was not presented as part of the reservation via Expedia. This force them to pay an extra $216.93 above and beyond their budgeted cost to spend their honeymoon in FL. After looking up information on Budget's insurance coverage policy, there was nothing that I could find that stated car insurance is mandatory. So from a consumer stand point, either this Budget branch is scamming their customers, or the person took advantage of the newlyweds. I will never use Budget or recommend them to anyone. As one who travels for business, I've never been ask to accept the rental services insurance. So I find this appalling to have those starting their new lives with this type of experience. It would be a good gesture to refund the couple the amount of the insurance cost to show a act of good business and examine the rental practices of the Budget branch in Dayton FL.
