Yes, there is a sturdy handrail the whole way. It's on the right side, where the steps are widest. We were just there today and were curious about how many we climbed - forgot to count, twice!
There are names removed because, names where placed on the monument for people that where not at the battle of gettysburg. For example they may have been in the group but injured someplace else also some disurters.
