You can buy food storage items. Bulk case goods, even if you are not a member.
Beans and rice store 20+ years. I believe milk at pasta are 5-10 years. I would have to double check that though.
Saturday hours are 10-1 now.

The Bishops Storehouse, for LDS members with a food order from their bishop, and the Home Storage Center, for the general public, are open 10 to 5 on Tuesday, 10 to 8 on Thursday, and 10 to 2 on Saturday.

The Home Storage Center offers bulk food storage items for sale to the general public. The Bishops Storehouse provides food orders for needy members which have been authorized by their local bishop.

Sometimes funds are limited depending on the ward they may or may not help you. Being a fellow mormon myself, I have never personally asked for assistance outside of food. The storehouse is for food but members go through their ward bishops for other assistance. Hope that helps
