Questions & Answers

Is there a builders discount?

Often your builder can get items at a wholesale price or at a discount price. Use this key advantage when using vendors. Do not hesitate to ask if your builder has a discount because you never know until you ask. Also asking places for a 10% off the total isn’t a bad idea to save some cash while buying appliances and certain décor.

When building a home, what is good advice in terms of furnishing and appliances?

Find out what you need Before you need it I cannot stress this enough. It pays off in the long run to get all of the materials before you need them. If you don’t, you could end up in a situation where you need to buy a dishwasher to be installed that week. But you can’t find it at a reasonable cost right away. In order to get it you have to pay a premium cost. Plan ahead and buy things in advance to avoid rushing into overpriced materials and appliances.

What is the difference between a custom built home and a commercially produced home?

Consumers often call production built homes, “cookie cutter houses” and other similar terms related to the design being duplicated multiple times. You have probably seen local neighborhoods with multiple houses that are either identical to one another or closely resemble each other. These are production built homes that a builder and an architect worked together to design and then duplicate multiple times. This type of home will not be customizable to your vision nor will it be guaranteed to meet the special needs of your family.

Will it be more expensive to build a home vs buying one?

The simple answer to this question is: No, it will not be more expensive to build your own home. In fact, many families have found that building their dream home is a cheaper option than buying a pre-built home. There are several factors that weigh into the price of buying/building a home. The price begins with the cost of materials and labor. Building your own home with UBuildIt not only allows you to select the materials you desire, but also be in charge of the budget.

Why should I build a home rather than buy one that is on the market?
