Is there room for improvement? Sure. Do they deserve this low rating? No. Great rates, monthly newsletter, and year I've ryear uptime improvements.

I had peninsula light most of my life at three different locations. They are average and albeit pricey comparatively speaking with other local energy companies. What is nice is they do offer assistance for a couple hundred dollars once a year. You need to provide documentation such as ID and birth certificate. The cons: the $100 membership fee. This is not refunded, but how it is pitched you'd think it would be. Nope. Additionally you may consider insuring cables from the road to your house or transformer. They will not repair on your property in most cases like water company and pipes. You will have to pay a few hundred to get a pro out to fix. Only other gripe is I rented my home and the renter left early without sharing and left the heat on. Needless to say after a month and a half mo rent I went to check it out. The renter removed her name from the pen light and reverted back to me without any knowledge and they would not consider bill reduction. I was stuck for several hundred dollars.

Peninsula Light has been wonderful. I have been a member for about 48 years and the service has been great. They have tried to do what they can to minimize outages, but Mother Nature doesn't always cooperate. The crews work really hard to get power back on each time . Thank you, guys for all your hard work!! Please, be safe out there!!

Shortsighted and temporary above-ground "solutions" and they do not mind endangering the lives of their repair crews as long as the temporary solution is quick and cheap. Making matters even more frustrating is that you can only speak to an automated phone service on the weekends. Amazing that in the richest country on Earth, we are still using antiquated and unreliable above ground power lines, especially in windy areas with high tree density. Absolutely shortsighted and stupidly cheap way to operate. If they burried their power lines, they wouldn't have to constantly repair them, piss off their customers and endanger their repair crews whenever a slight breeze happens.

Washington is undergoing heavy windstorms right now, power will likely be unstable for the duration of the windstorm.
When will the power be back on on Cornwall Rd it's getting colder out since 4 at least give us a up date come on
There Twitter and Facebook page has been updated ATLEAST every hour this whole storm up until midnight and last night all night. They have done. Great job communicating.
Yes
Still out in Purdy across from Burley at hwy302 x 154th ... but Pen light outage map doesn't show it today... last night they showed 3600+ customers out, this morning (Sun Feb 9) says 186 out ... i don't think website is accurate. They've done a terrible job communicating even with text updates.
Pennlight should have a power outage map on there website and should give info
Depends on whether they think you need to install a transformer or there is enough juice to tap into the line for your house- obviously all depends on the size (and therefore consumption) of your house, how far the nearest transformer is and what chances that other homes could be built next to yours in the near future. I built a house in Olalla in 2007 and all 3 factored in and i had to put in a transformer, total cost was roughly $1500, incl dig out hole, concrete base, simple drainage and transformer itself.
