watched a ground transportation operations guy pull into a handicapped parking spot get out lecture a guy on parking there without a permit while using the restroom. then he turned around and did the same thing. lol.

Its a bit over drivers view
It costs nothing to get dfw uber/lyft permit all you need is current insurance and active lyft or uber driver account they will want to see your active account on phone app so take your phone also take your car that you need the permit for and driver license. Each car you use needs a dfw permit decal
I am in similar position and just called. Permits are not needed as long as driving platform is up to date.
If your asking as an Uber or Lyft driver, you just need a Valid license, current vehicle registration, and your driver's app. The city permits have been removed due to a legal change in transportation code.

No, the office is closed Saturday, Sunday, Holidays and every first Wednesday of the month. As of this posting, the office will be closed Monday September 3, 2018 for Labor Day and reopen on Tuesday September 4. Please note, Wednesday September 5 is the first Wednesday of September so we will be closed that day as well.
