The staff here is a joke 😂 A bunch of salty white dudes who are clearly unhappy with their lives and job both, and take it out on people just trying to recycle by hassling and mansplaing basic instructions. 🥴😂🤣 My advice would be to stay on your little forklift and do your job instead of harassing community members trying to recycle 😂

I’ve been coming here for years I am a city resident but they never believe me even though I show all the information. The crew at the pay booth is generally not friendly or helpful. Until recently there’s been a cop car with lights flashing sitting at the entrance which is difficult to understand why that’s needed. In general it’s always an unpleasant trip. Everybody there needs some training on how to be courteous and friendly and helpful since our tax dollars pay their wages. There’s also always a huge line nobody’s in any hurry to get anything done

$80 to toss out an old mattress is a bit much, considering I DO live in Tacoma. Seriously these pricing are insane, it's literally cheaper to drive to Vashon Island, pay for the ferry and use their facility. It's sad that I'm not even joking.

3 days ago I came here and it was $20. Today it was $40 and was told it’s because I live on base (out of district). The first time I came the guy was well aware where I lived and even showed my military ID. Ripoff. Don’t come here.

You can take tv's, computers, stereos, all electronics to "Green PC". They repair and recycle computers. Located on 54th and South Tacoma way. Mon-Sat 10am to 6 pm
According to the website, this is what they accept for metal and styrofoam: Scrap metal (small and large items) – all fluids drained Styrofoam block (only clean, white packing block #6 Polystyrene) (Note: NO food containers.)
Line em up on their fence and target practice 😉
Do they accept unused paint?
They have special bins for hazardous waste
Yes they do
Yes you can take dishwashers there and I believe the fee is $20.
This is just guess but it would take a person to empty the paper bag of its contents. Then if it ripped there would be paper mixed in with let's say plastic. All recyclables are sold by how pure they are. If mixed the value goes down due to the "person" needed to separate. I'm not in the know so this is just a guess. Looking forward to other answers. Cheers!
20 bucks min, plus 11 bucks for up to 4 large pcs of furniture or mattress. So try and take 4 at a time for the best savings instead of multiple trips
Yes. I see a lot of sedan vehicals packed with trash
Yes there is a $20 minimum and then additional charge after a certain weight (something pretty high like 100 lbs?? Don't quite remember)
Yes, they do. You put them on bins left side. Right when you enter
Yes, in the garbage. You can recycle t.v.'s at the goodwill drop off in recycling as long as they are not broken in pieces.
Yes. They have a main dump room for generic trash
It's best to call and ask
$20 for the first 400lbs if you're a Tacoma resident. Maybe $10 for every 100 lbs after? $11 for every couch, $20 for every mattress. $40 per item with freon. Off the top of my head.
Yes. The recycle center, including glass drop off, is open 7 days per week
Yes but not sod or rocks.
Small amounts of dirt mixed in with yard waste is fine they just don't want dump truck full of dirt
Yes, even cardboard, newspaper, and even metal. Also take in chemicals and oil here too.
Last time I was at the recycling center about a month ago, they did have a bin for clean Styrofoam.
There is no fee for depositing clean cardboard from boxes into the recycling center bins labled for cardboard. Of course, boxes dirtied by food, like pizza boxes, or boxes that are wax/plastic coated for the freezer are not recycleable and must be placed in with your garbage.
You can call them and schedule a curbside pickup
Fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescents contain mercury, so they are accepted at the hazardous waste drive-up, which is free for Tacoma residents.
They are plastic so most likely
You will be charged more than a tacoma resident.
Officially, I think the answer is no, but nearly every time I've taken garbage to the dump, one of the workers has volunteered to help me with unloading stuff from my truck.
In between the recycling center and the hazardous waste center, there are bins for batteries. They are separated by: regular batteries, button batteries, and misc batteries (like cell phone and computer batteries). There is also a bin for recycling used printer ink cartridges.
Residents of Tacoma pay $20 plus weight. Non-residents pay $40 plus the weight charge.
Not sure. I go there 2 to 5 tines a week for my job and it seems like last time they had it closed because they were installing some kind of electrical equipment
Off to the right as soon as you pill in off of Meridian
Yes
Yes you can
Yes they do. I think they are around $7. I will check.
Currently open to Tacoma residents only. No word yet on when that may change.
Yes
Yes!
$20 for first 400 lbs. They may have a furniture charge to that also.
No
No its free. The recycling station will be in the front to your left before you go in the main transfer station building
I'm not too sure. You might have to call.
You can bring yard waste to dump here. The rate depends on if you are a residential customer, commercial customer, or are dumping from outside of Tacoma. For residential customers, it is free to dump yard waste (no dirt or rocks) and there is no limit to the quantity you can bring. You will just need to bring proof of residence when you come. I show them my driver's license when I come to dump items and they accept it as my proof of residency.
Yes they take styrofoam, it's right on the other side of the recycling center
I believe they do. Before u get to the main drop site there large bins for metal, plastic, paper, etc. After that is a hazardous waste building
The normal dump charge to dispose of pallets. I doubt theyll let you recycle the pallet without dismantling it. There are some lumber yards that buy back pallets. If theyre at least 75% salvagable, I'd even take them for my garden haha.
Yes, but you should ask where. It would likely be necessary to take it to their hazmat drop off, which is free, because paint doesnt belong in a landfill. Thanks for being environmentally conscious!
Yes
It's free.
The general dump will take all sorts of yard waste, furniture, brick, rock, metal, wood, glass, etc. Just so long as there are no propane tanks
Yes, in the main general dump area
Yes they do
I do believe twice a year you can call for curbside item pic-up that would accommodate 'large' items within REASON. simply give them a call and ask.
