Visited yesterday with an appointment and the experience was totally wonderful. Upon arriving I told the guard I had an appointment (I was 8 min early) and I was escorted into the waiting area. Checked in via the kiosk and was prompted called. My issue was resolved by 'Godfrey' who was the ultimate professional. He listened to my points, accepted my documents and resolved my issue. Total time at the office was 14 minutes. In my experience the staff including the guards was, friendly, courteous and very professional. My thanks to the team in Egg Harbor.

Currently as your his ex wife, you will not be entitled to it. If he was currently married at the time of his death, his current wife will receive his benefits. If his kids are under 18 years of age, they will also receive death benefits.
It is free to replace your social security card if it has been lost or stolen. You are limited to 3 replacement cards in a year and 10 during your lifetime. Legal name changes and other exceptions do not count toward these limits.
Social Security USUALLY sends out a printed statement (with perferated edges on three sides) that informs you of your monthly benefits for the upcoming year. (My mother received her letter/ statement in Dcemeber 2017 for the 2018 benefit year. Just be sure Social Security has your correct mailing address. You can log on to the Social Security website (ssa.gov) and create a "My Social Security" account that will have all your information available to you including information about monthly benefits, COLA increases, past work history earnings, award letters, and much more! It's a very helpful site to use because it will save you a trip to the Social Security Office.
Yes it's open, but you still need to make appointments. Except for social security cards, they are walk in. Easy interview are walk in. Filing for benefits needs appointments. I hope this helps.

Depends on what you are going in for. I did an application online for a replacement card. You have to physically go in and present supporting documents. I did not need an appointment for that. It was quick and easy.
It's always best to put an appointment

If it's logistically possible could you go to the office in person. You may have to wait an hour but at least you will get your answers.
Won't matter...you will still end up waiting....
Yes we have stopped taking walk in. The office is so crowded, with people. We only take people that have appointments, the only walk in are for social security card, or something that can be done quickly at the reception window.

He should be able to get it himself without you being there. He will need to bring proof of identification like a photo ID or his birth certificate with other proof. I would suggest he get there around 8:30/8:40 to get a number and lessen his wait time. They'll review his paperwork and application and mail the card in 7-10 business days. He can also bring a medical record from his doc w/ name, DOB, and an original signature from the doc. Like a shot record.
If your owed payments yes
