I was in town (Philly) for the first time.. and first time navigating through a big city,. busses, train, and walking city blocks . Got overwhelming ..to say the least . I stopped to ask directions from several citizens about how busses work and such getting confusing answers . Finally I see the 2 Philly park rangers . I explained to them how confused I was and where I was trying to go.. Bob, 1 of the park rangers tried to help immediately. But I was still unsure. Bob politely said to his fellow officer here let's show her where to go and what to do. The park ranger walked me to the station where I was to buy a card for the bus. After getting situated with the proper passes to get on the bus he did fat which route would be best for me and got me to the proper bus stop made sure I got on the right bus. This was the best part of my experience the whole weekend, true a true gentleman a true professional on an officer of the law should mirror. Thank you urban park ranger Bob S.

The online permit portal is horrible. Even after watching the provided tutorial there's still so much left unclear- no indication I had to call the office first in order to get the option to pay for the permit online (why?), the office never answered my calls, voicemailbox was always full (and came up as Houston Playground?), the hours the office takes calls vs takes payments in person is unclear from the site, and there was never a warning that my security deposit of $250 for my event would take 90 DAYS to be refunded to me. It's almost as if the city wants to punish you for reserving space in addition to the price gouging.

If no stars was possible, then I would have given 0. I play in a mens softball league, and we pay for field fees that go to the park and recs for maintenance and for insurance purposes as well. But yet even after paying fees to use the fields which we already pay taxes on, the fields are complete trash. Yes they cut the grass, but no infield maintenance is ever done. Unless your playing at field in the inner city, that’s the only way they are done. Everywhere else even in the North East they are garbage. I have Asked if we can pay a landscaper just to take care of the infield and we’re told “no because it has to be done by the city”. Yet multiple complaints go unanswered and problems go unfixed. If your looking to play in a league or start a team in this city I suggest looking into neighboring counties for fields to use. Atleast their tax dollars and fees actually get put to use.

Yes but what am I’m paying for a permit for I don’t have games there just practice
By policy you are not permitted to remove anything from the park. However you are asking from the river. The park does not have jurisdiction over the water. Jurisdiction is for the land that surrounds the river.
