I was experiencing persistent abdominal pain and called my PCP; she got me in and prescribed an anti- gas medication and instructed me to go to Swedish Emergency if it did not subside. Later that evening, we went and the Emergency Doctor, Dr Chiang ordered a CT scan. After a reading by a radiologist, Dr Chiang shared the initial findings and said we were being referred to the surgical team and they would be down to meet with us. We peppered him with questions but to his credit, he deferred to his colleagues, not feeling it appropriate to go beyond his expertise (he was very professional)! A surgical team of 3 met with us and provided preliminary thoughts on what the scan showed. The senior surgical resident shared her thoughts but told us she also wanted to get on the phone w/ her boss to get his opinion whether an immediate surgery was warranted . Again, totally appreciated her honesty and transparency about what they were doing. Two of the surgical residents returned and took the time to bring up the scan and identify what we were looking at and potential problem areas. It was clear nothing definitive could be confirmed until they went in for a look. They told me no immediate surgery would be scheduled but I would have to be admitted and my case reviewed by the surgical team later that morning! It was 4am by the time I got to my room. A Nasal Gastric tube was inserted to drain my bowel and relieve the pain and discomfort from the bloating. I rested until 6am when Amber from the Surgical team dropped by. She took notes while I talked through the events leading up to my admission. She told me the surgical team would be meeting at 7:30 and after reviewing my case would come up with a treatment plan and she would return to go over it with me! Folks here are so busy and the idea one of my care Physicians would drop by at the top of her shift was impressive. To her word, she returned and went over the plan. A laparoscopy was scheduled. They would use a camera to go in and see what they were dealing with. Made sense to me! I was wheeled into pre-op in less than an hour and Dr Mandel (my surgeon) stopped by to explain and reassure me about the surgery. A laparotomy was a possibility but I was confident she would make every effort to solve the obstruction through the less invasive laparoscopy. She was successful in identifying the culprit and removing the block! My post op care was tremendous. Dr Morris stopped in once I returned from recovery and explained my procedure and outcome and and All manner of Physicians from the surgical team stopped by multiple times during the day to check in. Amber and Fares appeared to be the leads and just made me feel like I was in such good hands. EVERY doctor I met during my stay were diagnostically skilled and possessed the bedside manner of the famed Marcus Welby (ok ok, not your generation LOL). Before going off shift, Amber and Fares (w/ another colleague) stopped by to check on me! SERIOUSLY!!!!! Consistently displayed a dedication to their patients and their craft! My nursing team!!!! WOW - Michele, Taylor, Lanchi and Ligaya were so kind! Hardworking, positive, professional and empathetic! I couldnβt have asked for better careππItβs very hard work and sometimes these women and men donβt get the props they deserve! Honestly, top to bottom, technicians, nursing staff, transporters to physicians β¦ everyone is dedicated, thoughtful and so so caring. Could not have asked for better care! Thank you so much for helping me through it all!

This review is mainly about MyChart, the portal that the Swedish Hospital uses for communications between patients and health care providers and for information about test results and appointments. MyChart is often broken. We get notifications that we have test results and when we visit the site or use the app, we cannot find any results. The Contact Us page indicates the technical support is available Monday through Sunday, 7:00am - 8:00pm and yet when we call on weekends, we only hear a message to call on weekdays. There are different MyChart links for the Swedish Hospital, Polyclinic and for different times that a patient may have visited them. It is so surprising and embarrassing that such a large health care provider in the Seattle area has such a portal with such a poor quality.

If I could give them zero star I would!! This place is no joke man trying to get an ultrasound appointment for almost 2 weeks now and was never be able to reach anyone always placed on hold for 45 minutes and even leave them a couple message and the message was never returned! And when I try the operator just to see if She can help me, the women that answer was very rude!! I give up this place.. I will die trying to get appointment with them!! gonna cancel all my appointments and go to a different hospital...I wouldnβt recommend any friends and family to this hospital!
