Needed middle section of bay window replaced due to argon gas lost. The Glass Doctor of Grayslake, from Christine in the office, Jon my sales rep to Larry the technician and installer the process was flawless!! It's refreshing to work with a company where the people are personable, efficient, professional, respectable, fun, and most certainly knowledgeable of their craft. From start to finish not one hitch. Pricing was also very reasonable. Thank you so much Glass Doctor! Would highly recommend and definitely use again.

Lovely experience!!! Chris was very competent and experienced, and we shared a few laughs. Great guy with a sense of humor. Our problem was a little tricky, but easy for Chris to handle. Fantastic result. I will defiantly be calling next time we have a glass problem!

For auto glass, we have the best guarantee in the nation upon installing a new windshield. If you choose our Windshield Protection Plan, you’ll have coverage for a full 12 months. Should you get a rock chip in your new windshield, Glass Doctor will repair it at no cost to you. Our Windshield Protection Plan covers all rock chips received in the first 12 months — no limit. Should you receive damage that is not repairable such as a long crack or significant damage in the driver’s view area, we will replace the windshield at no cost to you for the glass material. Depending upon the type of coverage you purchase at the time of original install, you may be responsible for the cost of labor, adhesive, and moldings.

Can you cut tempered glass?

Glass Doctor - Owner | Jun 7, 2022

Unfortunately, tempered safety glass, by design, cannot be cut. It is designed to break into small pieces when cut or broken to reduce the risk of significant injuries to the person breaking it. Using safety glass, of which “tempered” is one type, is mandated by state building codes in specific applications like doors, sidelights, showers, etc. Please call Glass Doctor if you want more information on this topic.

Do you replace sliding door rollers?

Glass Doctor - Owner | Jun 7, 2022

Yes! We do replace rollers if needed. Of course, we try to clean the tracks and rollers and adjust first. If that does not work, we will discuss replacing the rollers for you.

Can you buff scratches out of glass?

Glass Doctor - Owner | Jun 7, 2022
Glass Doctor - Owner | Jun 7, 2022

Scratch removal in residential glass and light commercial applications is not a commercially viable solution. Basically, it is labor-intensive and not very successful. Furthermore, if the customer is not satisfied with the result, they are understandably not willing to pay for the time and materials invested by the glass company. Scratch removal and scratch buffing systems exist; however, they are typically only practical in warehouses, industrial, and on larger commercial glass projects. Please call our Glass Doctor office if you would like a more detailed explanation.

Only the bottom section of my window is broken. Do you have to change the entire sash, or can you just change the glass in my frame?

We specialize in glass replacement. We can, in most cases, remove the glass from the frame and install new glass. Your existing window sash will remain.
