MUST VISIT! Family friendly (very small restaurant so bringing a stroller like I did is not recommended). Pet friendly (outside seating only). Street parking only. FOOD: 1) Chowder of the day (rotating chowder finished with parsley oil, scallions, and oyster crackers) $7 cup: Delicious chowder with a great consistency and just the right amount of chunky bits. However, the only thing I did not like was the parsley oil. If you're not a parsley fan, have them omit it. 2) Fried Oysters (panko and served with chips and basil aioli) $17: We had two order of these in our group - one was amazingly cooked with a crunchy texture and fried just right, the other one was kind of burnt :( The oyster on both order were huge and great value for the price. Half of our group didnt like the basil aioli but I personally loved it. It was so different and wish they served more than the little condiment container. 3) British Fish & Chips (Sea cod served with minty mushy peas, tartar sauce, and fat chips) $19.50: This piece was cod HUGE. It looks like its was one whole side of the cod. The meat was moist and cooked just right with an exceptional exterior that was crisp and crunchy. For being deep fried, the exterior was not greasy or oily tasting. I did not enjoy the peas so I was glad you only get a small ice cream scoop worth of it. 4) Fish Sandwich (beer battered Alaskan cod loin, served with slow roasted tomatoes, onion, arugula, and Macrina potato roll) $17: Great sandwich, similar to the British Fish & Chips, the cod was huge and should really have been two sandwiches considering the bread to fish ratio LOL RESTAURANT/INTERIOR: Crazy small restaurant but with a decent turnover. You are supposed to order before grabbing a table so you cant "hold it." There are two picnic style table that can seat about 6 people each. The rest of the restaurant are small 2-4 top and with a couple of 5 top tables outside. This is a very narrow restaurant so there is a lot of sliding and making sure you dont bump anyone. STAFF: The staff is very friendly when it comes to dropping off your food. They are very on top of clearing/cleaning the tables to make sure they are ready for the next guest.

I had to take a ferry ride to go to this place and I always go here when I go to Bainbridge island in Washington. A short leisurely walk in Downtown Bainbridge to go this place. It is somewhat like a hidden alley but it makes this place unique. Clean and nice restaurant to dine at. The wait time for your food is worth it. You know that they are making it fresh all the time. You'll want to order and try everything in their simple menu. I like how they serve your food in a very appetizing way. Servings and taste of food are worth its price. Just sharing my experience here makes me crave for their food and makes me feel like going back there for a mouth-watering lobster roll.

We came for lunch with a group of 9 people, it’s a small restaurant with a small staff but they went above and beyond with taking care of us! Reza took our complicated order and split the check 5 ways, then he set up our outdoor table and made sure we were enjoying our meal. Even though they were very busy he took the time to engage us in friendly conversation. We appreciated the personal attention! I am gluten intolerant and they didn’t have anything on the menu that I could eat. Instead of directing me to a place nearby where I could find something they changed up they’re whole cooking method to make sure I could enjoy the meal. I had the fish tacos and they were delicious! I really enjoyed the crispy mini-fries on top and the pickled onions. My husband had the fish and chips and it’s a very generous portion of fish with thick satisfying fries. We will definitely be back!

I went to Proper Fish for two reasons, first I love fish and chips, and second the reviews lately have been mixed and I wanted to get the straight scoop first hand. The one thing we don’t know is do they have good days and bad days, but I can tell you I caught them on an amazing day. The fish and chips are as good as any I have ever had, although a bit expensive at $19 and when you pay with a credit card they use square that always asks for a tip. Glad I left a tip as the food was well worth it. First off the chips are thick, fresh, and hand-cut, maybe a rare instance I thought fries were better than Dick’s…Second the fish is a very long cut piece and there is only one, which at first seems like a small portion, but in the end it was a lot of fish. The batter is on the thick side, but I loved it and the fish was substantial and flaky white. Also, their tarter sauce is amazing. I will definitely go back, maybe next time try the lobster roll. Bottom line - you got try PF, well worth it.

Recently proper fish upgraded the patio area and now the are more table and sitting available.
No, unfortunately not
Due to shortage of stuff we stoped serving alcohol, but the good news is we are working to renew our iquor license and soon we will be serving beer and wine. Thanks for your business and support. Team Proper Fish.
I would say you could if it was a large party. But, not for a couple of foursome. Seating is very limited and it's pretty much first come first serve
