They are the few who do so much, with so little, for so many

I lost my father 3 weeks ago to covid; ( Not even 2 and a half years ago my mom passed from cancer) When I called to inquire about a grief group, I was told that I would have to wait a few weeks before joining a group that way I would be comfortable talking about my situation. The gentleman took my name and phone number and said someone would call me back in about a week. Still have not received any calls. Fortunately I was able to find another group that I began attending 2 days after my dad's passing. This is sad, hopefully this is not a regular occurrence here and I am not one to hold grudges or trash businesses or peoples reputation but I do believe people should be informed.

My family would not be where they are today without Lost & Found. Groups show you that you are not alone in your darkest time and you gain lifelong friends that understand you. They also show you ways to work through your grief. Lost & Found Grief Center us amazing!!❤

Amazing staff. They are truly amazing, in the face of all that is not.

Participants ages 4 and up can join grief support groups. Children 4-18 are split into age appropriate groups: Little Ones (4-6), Children's, Middler's, Teens. Once a child turns 18/graduates high school, they can move up to Young Adult. We offer concurrent parent/caregiver support groups while the children's groups are happening, as well as groups for spouse loss, child loss, PAILS (pregnancy and infant support loss), Connections (support after the acute stage of grief), Journeys (support for caregivers/family of those facing terminal illness), and general adult groups.
Prior to attending grief support groups at Lost & Found, interested individuals must call the Lost & Found office (417-865-9998) and complete an intake with a member of our program team. We will collect some basic demographic information about the caller and anyone interested in attending groups, and we will obtain any relevant information about the person who has been lost. This will allow the program team a chance to assess what grief support options are most appropriate and complete group or counseling scheduling at that time.
Our grief support groups are open-ended, meaning there is no set time participants can remain in group. Everyone grieves differently and on their own timeline, so participants will indicate to the group leader when they feel they are ready to close.
Each of our support groups meet twice per month, either the first/third week or the second/fourth week, for 90-minute sessions.
Lost & Found specializes in grief related to the death of a person. If you are needing support in another area, you are welcome to call and speak to our program team who can connect you to resources for those other needs.
All grief support groups are offered at no charge to the participants. We also offer individual grief counseling, for a fee.
Everyone grieves differently and on their own timeline. We recommend waiting at least one month after a loss to take care of the things you need to do after a death, plan and attend any memorial service, etc. At that point, we believe you will be better prepared to talk about your grief journey as well as hear from others in the group.
All of our grief support groups meet twice per month - either the first/third week or the second/fourth week and all are offered 6:30-8p (except one spouse loss group we do offer during the afternoon). We have a variety of different types of grief support groups - for children, teens, young adults, spouse loss, child loss, adult, infant/pregnancy loss, aftergrief, and offer support for those facing terminal illness. If you call the office during business hours, we have you complete an intake and will assign you to the appropriate group.
Grief often creates a spiritual crisis and religious beliefs provide great comfort to some in their time of need. Everyone’s grief and view of life is different, and our participants have a wide range of choices and beliefs. At Lost & Found we honor them all.
Lost and found group sessions are free. I think there is a charge for private sessions. Call and they will tell you for sure. It is a wonderful organization.
Lost & Found offers grief support groups for young adults as well, for those that fall into the range of 18-35ish.
