Not very busy at 830 on Saturday morning. Had an appointment but probably didn't need it. Very efficient staff. In and out in 15 minutes. As far as license ing goes it was relatively painless. Would come here again, but hopefully not for at least 5 years.

Awesome experience! We just bought a new house here in Washington and my out of state license was going to expire in just a few days. Went in on a Thursday afternoon and although there was only about a half dozen or so people ahead of me, there was a woman employee going around performing a sort of "triage" to those of us waiting to hear our number called. We didn't have all the necessary documents with us, to verify our new address, so she handed me a list of possible documentations to bring in. We left to go retrieve the necessary documents and returned about an hour later. There was only one other person being helped at that time, so wait time was only a couple of minutes. When I was called up, a very nice and helpful gentleman verified everything, then had me see another woman to take my photo. All three employees I dealt with that day were not only very helpful and efficient but were extremely nice! This was, by far, the very best DMV experience of my life! Great job, Shelton DMV!!!!

Two stars because it wasn't busy. I wanted the enhanced drivers license. I let the clerk run the conversation and when it came time to pay I asked for the enhanced license. The clerk told me it was too late, and that I would need more than my passport for the enhanced. I was upset that she hadn't asked me what kind of license I wanted from the beginning. I would have been willing to go get the paperwork I needed. How could it be too late if I had not paid yet? Disappointed.

Utility bill and picture id
As long as your Illinois license is Valid, Not Expired you'll be fine. No testing required. You will need proof of residency like a utility bill in your name or paystub with your name and WA address.

Yes! You can also use a VA card or DD form 2 which is the green or blue retirement card. If using DD-214 make sure its the page that shows Honrable Discharge.
