Couldn't have high gas bill

Fred G. Sanford

If I need to upgrade the equipment for my business, or buy new things or make other changes; do you know where the funds to do so come from? MY PROFITS. Not so with the utility companies. Every time the need to buy a tank of gas they pass the charge along to the customers. The C.U.B. approves every request. This is why our gas bills are astronomical. On top of the commodity market price skyrocketing, we also have to pay for infrastructure improvements, building expansions, etc. Just who is the C.U.B advocating for? Certainly not the little guy. Disband it. What purpose does it serve?

I'm retired from a regulated public utility. CUB fights the good fight for consumers. I've contributed to them since the 1980's. Great organization.

The Citizens Utility Board, also known as CUB, is a very helpful organization. They will answer all of your questions and give you the information you need. They also have Spanish speaking staff members if you need.

Questions & Answers

Hi Frank and CUB team- I have just read all 14 questions and none of them, or yours Frank, have been answered. I have to say, that the Smart Meter issue is a hot one and is seeming to be glossed over at CUB. We appreciate that you are trying to hold AT+T's feet to the fire when it comes to not allowing them to banish the landline phones, but what about the analog meters that the gas and electric companies want to take out and replace with Smart Meters that have been linked to fires (not mandatorily UL approved, made in China and have bad contacts that can spark, not to mention being an electronic device they need surge protectors and DO NOT come with it) but maybe more up your alley, CUB, is that they are extorting people to pay fees if they refuse it, OR turn off their gas or power, AND they are getting filthy rich off of these shoddy, insecure products. (security is another topic that got them banned in France). Please help CUB!

Do I really need to let Peoples Gas relocate their gas meters to outside my building? The current meters are read remotely and are only 2 years old. Plus there's an outside shutoff. Plus I understand that all their customers will eventually pay.
