I referred a father and his son to this program in 2019. The administrative staff went out of their way to accommodate the father/son family. According to my information from the family, the place was relatively clean, a shower was available on a daily basis. The food was decent and no complaints about the bedding. The one difficult dynamic for the teenager was the 6:00 p.m. curfew. Also, staff at the VOA family shelter on Bannon Street, assisted the father/son family to long term housing within less than a week. My past experience is as a Unit Manager for the Aid in Kind Program in the early 2000's. I enjoyed working with the VOA staff.

Don’t even bother calling here. They are very rude and unhelpful. A waste of time. They claim to help out people but if they treat their people the way I was treated on the phone then I don’t wish that on anyone. Needed help for one of my customers and they were less than helpful.

Questions & Answers

This use to be "Starting Point" as I remember growing up there in that neighborhood I vaguely remember my mom said someone from the Kennedys stayed there as a teen. I believe it was a drug and alcohol Rehab Center

It is an alcohol detox center. They also have homeless shelters around town and offer other services.
