This is a great congregation! If you are seeking a low pressure church to explore, maybe the mega churches are not quite you, yet you do not care to go back to the 1950's either, consider TVPC. It is multigenerational, mostly families but also a fair number of singles, lots of children, seniors, great adult ed. The contemporary service is refreshingly genuine. A more traditional service is also held, and in the summer an outdoor chapel is great. Lot's of opportunities to serve, study, or just be left alone if you prefer. Some have been here their entire lives, many have left the area only to return, yet new members appear almost every month drawn by the schools or career relocation or senior communities. Not too small, not too big. It is a neighborhood church yet members come from beyond Northbrook/Glenview/Deerfield, even if the majority live close by. Being a mainline denomination there are opportunities to serve with other congregations throughout the Chicago Presbytery, which is highly diverse, plus nationally/internationally. Lastly, members come from the full economic range of residents of the area, high net worth to struggling to new arrivals to the US, and I have always been impressed in how well everyone blends and shares all aspect of the faith journey together. All churches say everyone is welcome, and I think you will feel that here.
