Our group of 4 was visiting the Seneca Lake area in early October for a weekend of wine tasting. We made an advanced reservation for a Thursday afternoon tasting at Lamoreau Landing. I highly recommend weekdays since our busy weekend tastings at other wineries have been disappointing. Our tasting at the Landing took place under an outdoor tent. The experience was made special by our hostess named Mora. She spent time talking about the various wines, the wineries history, the challenges of weather and soil conditions, and she encouraged us to ask other questions. The experience lasted an hour. This was everything we imagined a wine tasting to be and it far and away surpassed our experiences at the other 8 wineries we visited at both ends of the lake during our 4-day stay. We enjoyed some of the wines we tasted more than others and we each purchased a few bottles before we left. Thank you Mora and the staff at Lamoreau Landing for restoring my faith in wine tasting and for avoiding the assembly line process that most of the other wineries practice. It’s listening to the knowledge and experience of the host or hostess that make the trip fun and memorable. Lamoreau Landing does a great job of this. Many other wineries just pour you a flight and your on your own.
